Your brakes work for a minimum of 2 pumps. also, standing on the brake would have also probably stopped the car. The drive was another show of Darwin's law. You can put the car in neutral, it was demonstrated on TV after the news.

P.S. to the OP people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. REMEMBER THIS?????????

Ford Mo Co Vehicle Quality total recall was 10.3 million.

yep, heck, i'd never think a floor mat could do that but who knows. I did have a throttle stick one time, scared the living ***** out of me, i was quick enough to turn it off and pop the clutch at the same time.

I heard the 911 call tape of the off duty cop and his family yelling and they were in a panic and with his family in there it just added to the situation. He did not think, e-brake,netural, move said floor mat. But until i am in that same situation i would never know what this guy was thinking at that very moment..

Good post.

We will never know if he was thinking " Gee, if I bought a Ford, this wouldn't be happening......"

I agree MonteCarlo. As I said before, the guy had time to call 911. WTF is wrong with people when your first thought is to call for help instead of just throwing it in neutral. I hate to hear about anyone losing their life but it really does sound like Darwin played a part in that one.

I guess its like everything else in America these days, no personal responsibility, call someone else to fix your problem

Quote of the millennium. It's never anyone's fault but someone else's in America.
