Ranger Transmission Help
Ranger Transmission Help
Hey guys need your help. My son has a 1996 Ranger that we had the tranny completely rebuilt less than a year ago $2,500.00. Over the weekend he turned the corner and hit the gas and all it did was rev. Wouldnt go forward or backwards. So we towed it to the tranny shop that did the rebuild. When the tranny guy called and said it would be a couple of days before he could check it. He kept telling me if your son was doing brake torques ect basicly implying the tranny may have been abused it wouldnt be covered under warranty. I know it would not be covered for abuse. All he does is drive it to school. He doesnt abuse it. Actually he takes good care of it because he knows this is his only transportation. He said the fluid didnt smell burnt which we checked before it was towed. So if he comes back and try to say it was abused what can I do? It would be his word against ours and he is the expert. It will be a couple of days before he can check it. So if he comes back and says it was abused what should/can I do? Hopefully it is something simple and wont be a big deal. Should I take pictures of the torn down tranny at his shop and show pictures to another tranny guy? Just trying to get my ducks in a row.
Thanks for any and all help!!!

If he says it was abused tell him to prove it! If he says there was a "brake stand or burnout done with the truck" there should be dried up rubber from the tires under the rear fenders, if there isnt any proof there, then sounds to me like he will have to replace it. I had a similar deal with a tranny guy and he kept telling me that i was hot rodding it, but he couldnt prove it so it was fixed under the warranty
