Ebay Scam?
Ebay Scam?
I'm currently "looking" at a travel trailer and the seller wants to go thru Ebay Services ( Pay Pal ) The trailer is a 30' 2008 with all the bells and whistles and is going for about 50% less than others on the market. I recieved an e-mail back from the "seller" with a story about going thru a divorce and needing to get rid of the trailer.
She told me for the asking price, it would also be delivered to my address. I asked her about the location of the trailer and it is in storage in Ottawa which is about 35 hours from me.
From what she is saying, there will be no cost to me for delievery and I have up to 5 days to look at the trailer before she gets any money thru Ebay. If I don't like it, it is up to her to get the trailer back.
She has sent the VIN which I will run for liens and so forth and if comes back clean I'm not too sure what to do.
Anyone have any experience with a set up like this?

Tough to say. Leaning towards....a scam. Search the web and you will find similar stories of using eBay services. The scammer is trying to make it look legit.
its a scam. anytime they will deliver for "free" or want to use something like paypal to be legit its a scam. youll have five days to look it over before ebay gives her money? ebay doesnt release money if you sell something through them for like 20-30 days. trust me just go pay full price instead of 1.5x full price

Look at this.
eBay is NOT an escrow service and NEVER will be.
Buy it thru eBay and fine
Buy it thru another site/service that claims to use eBay to finalize the financial transactions and you will get taken.

replace the **** in the above URL with the name for ***** and it will show you the entire scam page by page.
cheers

My buddy found an ad on Autotrader.ca listing a 2002 Escalade for $7,995.
(My buddy wants one bad)
Anyhoo, the listing said it is using Ebay services.
So he contacted the seller, and received a reply that he was getting divorced and had moved back to England.
They want 30% upfront, and if you're not happy, they will refund your money within 5 days (so says the ad)
My friend traced the ad back to a Kansas IP address.
He later found the same Escalade being sold on Ebay with the same VIN number.
This guy just gets details from Ebay listings, and then dupes people into buying his so called "cheap' vehicles and screwing people over.
He reported the guy to autotrader, and his ad was removed, but 2 days later he had a new ad up and running.
Like someone else said "if it sounds to good to be true, it normally is".

Have her put it on ebay with a "buy it now" price while you're online. Payment through paypal, if she tries to send you a link for paypal don't use it. Go straight to paypal and log on and type in the ebay auction number, for a small fee, paypal will offer you a buyers protection contract through paypal to cover you if it is a scam.
