Dodge VS Railroad tracks
Let me also apologize for being testy... I just came back from a ****-ant NC town where people are fighting tooth and nail to keep old, unprotected railroad crossings open, instead of closing dangerous crossings and thereby be allowed to use federal money to upgrade safety devices at nearby crossings because,
It's amazing how ignorant and backwards some people can be.
So again, my apologies for jumping on you like that.

"I don't wanna have to drive an extra ¼ mile down the street to the next crossing! Besides, nothing bad has ever happened here before, so nothing ever will!"
So again, my apologies for jumping on you like that.

no hard feelings. what did you major in a NCSU?
Cool man thats what im working on with a math minor. my cousin went/goes to NCSU now and already got his BS and Masters in mechanical and working on his phd. i think he just doesnt want to leave
You guys don't get it these were flat R/R track there was maybe a bit of a hump and we were only going 20mph at the most. The tracks were a bit bumby but nothing a 10 speed would have an issue with going 30mph. My truck has been off the ground many many times and i have even dented my nerf bars a couple times but never broke anything, until i hit that damm deer a bit ago
**** broke then for sure.... The dodge is a very nice truck but that front suspension seems suspect but you can't beat the smooth ride....

I knew a guy that worked on trains back in the day. Can't remember what he did, but he said it was a great job. Saw a lot of cool stuff.
I've always wanted to hop on one of those that travels east to west coast, b/c trains always seem to run through the coolest parts of the state.

I've seen hundreds roll thru area's of track that I worked on but have never gotten a chance to ride one.
I've ridden plenty of light rail vehicles but it's not the same.
Just saw a newer Dodge truck jacked up on the side of the road with the right front wheel off and a busted ball joint!
Not near any railroad tracks, either. I have to drive back by there in a few hours - I'll bring my camera and take a pic if it's still there.
BTW, I got the joke about California trains. We got plenty of 'em around here, and are not too far from the Tehachapi Loop. Tehachapi is a train town, through and through. Take my little boy up there several times a year for the model train shows.
Went to the North Carolina Transportation Museum a few years ago with my family. Great place! As a child, my dad used to ride on one of the Shays they have there. His dad worked hauling lumber in the western part of North Carolina.

Got to climb all around and inside when the mechanics were doing maintenance, but didn't get to ride it any. One of these days though...
