That's insane.

On a side note, I always thought Chris seemed like a pretty good dude from his posts. Now seeing video, yup, seems like a generally likeable dude. Here's to you, Chris, for not being a Tool!!

LMAO

Well thank you

But just to back up what a few people here have already said....

Their is not a little digital camera, doubling as a video recorder, which could possibly pick up / record intense, deep bass, and sound good doing it.

In real life, SM's Tahoe sounded incredibly good ! And it was clean as could be from probably 25Hz to 18KHz.

As for the bass overpowering the mids + highs.... Well, you have to understand that with some recordings (the kind that somebody with a setup like SM's would tend to demo.... rap, techno bass tracks) the artist intended these tracks to be bass heavy.

However, if you played your favorite Rock, or Country, or Jazz track on SM's system, it would be totally adjustable to "your liking" as far as the balance of highs/mids/mid-bass/sub-bass goes. And of course > it does have a volume control too LOL

Anyway, the way I see it, super over-the-top stereos like SM's are not supposed to be practical. They are just like a top fuel dragster.... I mean, why does a guy have to put 8000HP's into a car, and go over 300mph in a 1/4 mile ? Because he can. And because "extreme" is fun

BTW, if any of you live in Nor Cal, and would like to check out one of SM's crazy systems, you can shoot him an e-mail, and will almost certainly invite you over to check out his work. He's a super cool guy like that
.....except he might have that system in his Tahoe ripped out by now.... He's rebuilding it all from scratch, going from 20Kwts to 30Kwts Can you imagine having a 20Kwt system and saying, you know, I think I need more wattage LOL

Peace,
Fish

Coobie, yes, he showed it to me.... but he could not demo it, as it had the dash all ripped out at the time for painting.
He also showed me his little Honda with two super high powered 18"s.... forget what that system pushes.... like 10Kwts maybe ? He said that on a db meter, that one isn't as loud as the Hoe or the Caddy, however, because of the size of the cab, and the 18"s being right up behind you, it "sounded" as loud.

Mana, yea, the freeway demo was crazy. I mean, my system is decently loud, but when I get on the freeway, with the windows down, the competition between my system, and wind and road noise really becomes apparent. I mean, I can still hear everything, but it doesn't seem near so powerful anymore.
SM's system, on the other hand, is SOOOO freaking crazy loud, that you could not even start to hear any wind or roadnoise whatsoever ! Honestly (and I'm not being facetios here either) I don't think you could hear a fire truck siren, while on the freeway, if it was pointed right at your open window !
The fact is, SM's setup on the freeway, like he said in the video, probably is even louder, than it is parked, and just reving the motor...... but my ears just could not discern the difference between 154dbs, and 157dbs... even though that is a BIG difference.

FordFanatic, yea' I definately want to go back to see it again when its all finished

Peace,
Fish

I couldn't imagine hearing that Fish. I bet your internal organs got a good massage.

I remember at a Texas Heat Wave car show in Austin back in the early 90's there was a Blazer there showing that was cranking out 159dB. The thing would almost make your heart stop, or so it felt. It was roped off, but still shook your clothes. I couldn't count how many speakers it had but that was an amazing system.

Well hey Coobie, since you should ask :o

To be quite honest {and I think this is probably a totally normal thing, for anybody but a professional actor} I feel like a total goofball, watching myself on video !
I once did a trophy Bass fishing seminar, that was recorded, and copied to CD's for distribution, and I felt 3/4's as dumb, listening to myself on that too.

But in both cases, I got a lot of very friendly feedback. So apparently, it's just the normal "weirdness" of watching / listening to yourself......

Same reason I flat out won't allow myself to be photographed, if I'm not holding a big fish.... cuz then the photo "is not of me".... it's of the fish... I just happen to be holding it

Peace,
Fish

BTW, in the 1 month since that vid was shot, I've lost about 30 lbs {30 more to go} not that I'm any "prettier" now, but maybe I don't look like quite as much of a fat slob

Chris, you seem like a really down to earth guy. We need more people like you around. Everything would be so much more chill.

I havent got to experience a good quality system like that in a long time. I used to be into that stuff years ago before marriage and kids but always enjoyed it. I see alot of "thumpers" running around still but never anything that really impresses me. I totally respect someone who can put together a system of that magnitude. That had to be so awesome! Of course not that yours is anything to sneeze at, Fish. Seems very nice as well!

I know stereo systems aren't everyones cup of tea, but to each their own I always say.
