Talking ""OFFICIAL" I hate window regulators thread!

Just kidding! I did come home this morning from work to see my driver's side rear window down a couple inches. It was raining pretty hard and I knew that I had roled them up before I left for work the day before. After getting my truck keyes and running back outside I was happy to see the freaken thing not wanting to roll back up. After about ten minutes of getting soaked by rain I finally got it to stay up with some tape. Now my rear seat and carpet is soaking wet. The cheapest place i've found a replacement regulator is at tasca ford. Does anyone else know of anywhere cheaper to buy a new regulator? Thanks!

I always bought mine at the dealer. I couldn't wait for one to be delivered.

Good luck finding a cheap one, I just had to replace mine couple weeks ago, My mechanic got the part from the ford dealer, I think it was around $200, then labor. The guy up at the shop said he's done had to replace 3 out of his 4, I guess the 04's regulators suck.

and the bad thing is, if something breaks you cant just buy that one piece, you have to buy the whole freaking regulator, somebody didn't think that one out to well when they designed them.

Yea the motor on mine still works it's just the wheel that pulls the cables that is broken. Oh well it's either pay to fix it or drive around with my window taped up.

Yep, sucks big time, never had a regulator break on any car for the last 40 years. Thanks a lot Ford. My dealership wants $230 for the part. I will order tomorrow for $104 online. Shoot I would rather look like a Ford Okie for a few days than pay $230 for something that is worth $20. Suggest keeping the other side of the rail piece that is not broken for the repair of the next regulator failure.

I've been wondering about mine for awhile now...they roll down normal speed for like the first third of the way down, then slow for the second third, then normal speed the last little bit. Anyone know what might be causing this?

I'm not sure if that's an early warning or not. My regulator didn't make any strange noises and the window alway's went up and down like normal. It had a quick death.

Mine too, quick, no warning. Looking at the rail pieces, they were clean and looked great. Maybe some silicone spray on the rubber where the glass contacts the door. Too much resistance?
