Bit of help with visa info

Hope somebody can help. Im off to Talladega for the Amp 500 later this year, i'm flying to a friends in Toronto and road tripping down. Now i can travel to canada without a visa as a British citizen And also to the USA on the British/USA visa Waiver programme using ESTA. But how does it work passing from Canada to the USA as an "Alien" I assume i need an ESTA application, the problem being they normally retrieve them at the airport to confirm your leaving and allowing you to apply again at a later date. Ive never passed between the 2 before.?

Seems so simple but at the same time not. Think i'm just thinking about it too hard.

Cheers

I am pretty sure the visa requirements are based on your citizenship not your previous location. If you are British you will be subject to the rules for British visitors so you shouldn't have a problem. I know that when I visited England coming from France the rules for American visitors applied to me not the French rules.

It still might be worth checking on though.
