Finally got some time to detail my new Ranger over the weekend and get some shots of it into my gallery. It's a 2009 with the 4.0 V6 engine mated to an automatic. It is replacing my old daily driver, which was a '97 Ranger regular cab with the 2.3 Lima engine and an automatic. So far with the 4.0 I am getting 20-22 mpg's, with about a 70-30 mix of highway and around town miles -- about the same as I got with the old 4-banger.

The only mod I've done so far is to add a Snug Top bed cover. At some point I might consider adding a cat-back exhaust, but for the most part I am content to keep it essentially stock. For what it's worth, I have owned it for a little over a month and it already has more miles on it than my 2005 F-150.....

Good thing you didn't get the 3.0 V6, you'd probably be regretting it right about.............. now.

 

Yeah -- the "3.slow" was discontinued starting with the 2009 models. The acceleration of the 4-banger combined with lousy gas mileage -- what a combination....

 

Seriously, they actually dropped it?! I never thought this day would come! I can now buy my kid a Ranger and not have that sickening feeling in my gut!
