New Mac......
New Mac......
Well the the office i use to work for got a new mac and called me to come set it up cause nobody has ever used one... I asked why did you get it then?
anyway to say the least i cant figure it out either.
What im trying to do is get a workgroup setup on it so it can talk to the other PC's in the office.
i got the internet working.
the router sees it as a mac.
but i see no network.
all i wanna do is join a workgroup and share a printer.
is there a really easy way to do this.
i even got the wireless connected.
but can seem to figure the workgroup thing out.
even youtubed it.

it was the worst thing i think they could have done.
I told them to return it but they already opened up 500 in software and theres a 10% restocking fee.
The only reason they bought it also so they could have 2 girls doing quickbooks at the same time. but you cant do that with mac and pc at the same time. No multi user accounts.
and if they returned it they would be out about 600 bucks...
I told the boss to eaither buy one from me or a used dell.
This is what happens when you send a employee to do your shopping.
They sad part is that his excuse for buying it was that its better. And i can agree to a certain point. but not for our application. these girls dont even know how to use vista let alone a mac.
and i thought because of him having a mac would help but it doesent he doesent even know how to use it. So there is NOBODY in the office that has anyidea how to use it.
end rant. its gonna take awhile to figure this thing out, but it will be a good learning experience
on another note its kinda sweeti wouldent mind having it.
Will words files from the mac work with the pc word? or will they have to save them as RTF files so they can view them on the pc?

everyone should switch to mac, then there wouldn't be these problems...people are so scared of macs...i dont know why???? I understand in the workplace its hard to link them up together....but PC's suck lol O and to answer your question
"Will words files from the mac work with the pc word? or will they have to save them as RTF files so they can view them on the pc?" They work, you shouldnt have to change a thing...save as normal on mac and open as normal on PC

oh man that was a good one, macs are great if you don't know how to run a computer so you need the computer to do it all for you but take away option. My personal opinion is a mac is an overpriced piece of junk, a PC will outpreform a mac by a bunch dollar for dollar every time.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHA

The Verdict: Apple
Mac: In both the laptop and desktop showdowns, Apple’s computers were the winners. Oddly, the big difference didn’t come in our user ratings, where we expected the famously friendly Mac interface to shine. Our respondents liked the look and feel of both operating systems but had a slight preference toward OS X. In our speed trials, however, Leopard OS trounced Vista in all-important tasks such as boot-up, shutdown and program-launch times. We even tested Vista on the Macs using Apple’s platform-switching Boot Camp software—and found that both Apple computers ran Vista faster than our PCs did.
PC: Simply put, Vista proved to be a more sluggish operating system than Leopard. Our PCs installed some software faster, but in general they were slower in our time trials. Plus, both PCs showed weaker performance on third-party benchmarks than the Macs. Our biggest surprise, however, was that PCs were not the relative bargains we expected them to be. The Asus M51sr costs the same as a MacBook, while the Gateway One actually costs $300 more than an iMac. That means for the price of the Gateway you could buy an iMac, boost its hard drive to match the Gateway’s, purchase a copy of Vista to boot—and still save $100.

Their market share(3.4% global) would seem to show that the PC is much prefered. Again let me say it dollar for dollar the pc will blow the mac away in performance. Try building your own mac, pc's are easy to build and again I can blow away any mac in performance for about 1/2 the price.

Did you read or even look at the article I posted? If so you wouldn't have repeated that last sentence. These are off the shelf computers that consumers are buying everyday. Your statement is false.
I've built many Macs in the last 20 years. You don't HAVE to buy them pre built loaded. You can do that later ya know? Or maybe you don't.
I edited my post so maybe you didn't get to read it, but any pc user that wants to can build their own and do it cheaply. It is very very simple to build a PC anyone that buys a boxed computer is not being very smart. Also what is wrong with comparing PC to mac sales?
Comparing Apple sales to ALL PC sales? oooooook

What's wrong with comparing PC to mac sales? Well you have how many PC build computers? Dell, Sony, Asus, Gateway, Acer, HP etc etc. And then there's Apple who builds Macs. And who else? See my point?
Just about anyone that wanted to can its not hard. The sales are a apple problem, their is no competition between mac computers maybe thats why they are so overpriced, it is still PC to mac comparisons if apples were so good you would think they would have more than 8% market share in the US.
