Bought a new toy :-)

Well, after all the crap I've talked about > I'll never buy an iPod < I went one step better, and bought an iPod Touch ! Geeez ! What a hipocritical SOB ! {there... I said it for you }

Here's the thing, I don't really see myself using it for the music in my truck, as I have a $29 flash drive that works just fine for that. And I don't like listening to music while I'm fishing {the AADD thing... can't handle distractions}

However, one of my co-workers was showing off her's, and let me play with it during a break. And I was tripping on the photo quality, and ease of navigation. Same with sound quality, and ease of navigation with my music files too ! Then videos ! Then being able to surf the net (VIA wi-fi, wherever available....
Then, I guess the clincher was (unlike an iPhone) NO MONTHLY service charges I REALLY like that. I buy it when I have a few extra $, and never spend another penny on it

Anyway, I now have all of my best big fish photos + all of my best general photograhy photos loaded on it (so that's about 700 photos) + my entire music collection (about 700 songs) and all of this is taking up 3.8 gigs of my 8 gig capacity

In a nutshell, this little thing is the coolest thing since the invention of the wheel
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Then, on a different, but related note;
The iPod Touch came with these little ear buds, which sounded great, but very little bass. Next, I tried it with a totally cheap (like $9) set of lightweight headphones that I had. Quite a bit more bass.
So then I got to thinking; What if I bought a set of nice earphones ? After an in-store demo, I bought these > http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1218062719186
...and they sound freaking phenominal !
I almost hate to say it, but after all the time and money I spent building my 1200 wt, 5ch truck stereo, strictly from a sound quality perspective, my $229 iPod Touch and these $80 headphones, probably sound better
Oh well.
That might be comparing apples to oranges I guess, as everyone knows that the vehicle environment is a lousy place for audio.
Another thing though; You might think that somebody like myself, who was used to listening to a powerful stereo, might not be impressed with the loudness of an iPod Touch.....
Well let me tell you, my new iPod, with these headphones, gets "louder" than I really even need it to, with almost no degradation in SQ ! Okay, so it won't slam through your back... But they do grab the bass, all the way down to 25hz ! Techno bass tracks sound bombastic on it !
Layed in my bed with the flat screen on some nice nature program, and rocked out with my new iPod for like two hours last night. Never heard the dogs bark... Forgot that I had room mates... It was just heavenly
Peace,
Fish
I'm just amazed by this little thing
My son has one. I browse F150online with it when the kids are hogging the puter lol. Wait until you find all the free applications and games you can download to it.
Right on
How old is your son ?
I was talking to a buddy of mine (we are both 45), and we were agreeing how the kids of today really take this kind of technology for granted. If somebody would have (could have) handed me this iPod Touch 30 years ago, I'd have thought it was brought here by aliens ! I mean it's like my other buddy said last night, after watching me enlarge a photo by putting my thumb and finger on the screen, then just spreading them out > Dude ! That's just stupid technology right there ! I mean, how in the heck..... ?????
Makes you wonder what in the heck they will think of next...... plus, it makes me believe that all they really have to do is "think of it" and then some freaking PC guru, somewhere will figure out a way to make it happen !
Just incredible.
He'll be 13 tomorrow, actually. He bought the iPod with his own money. I buy all my iPods, etc from the Apple store. Refurbished. Never had a problem with any of them. And I've bought probably close to 10 iPods on there. Much cheaper.
And you are so correct about the technology. In fact one of my twin girls who is 10, programs my wife's phones, sets the DVR, knows how to run my home theater etc better than my wife. It's amazing how fast they pick up the technology at such an early age.
I've got mine set up in the truck and love it. They're definitely a cool little gadget.
No problem. I've had excellent luck with refurbs on electronics. I think about it like this. If it was returned defective, they repaired it back to new and they know it works. Plus, it comes with the same warranty as new.
That is a too neatly organized console!!!! Mine collects crap that I swear "I" never put in there!
On the iPod note..... I had one.... hated the damn thing! Ended up buying a Zune and it play perfectly in my truck. I never looked back... sold the iPod. But, I really don't need the Wi-Fi and all that for just an mp3 player... but that is just "me".
