It is indeed a dilemma, as you realy need to be happy doing what you are doing in order to feel successful; like others have said, though, the economy is rough now, so, personally, I might wait it out a bit and then down the road see if I could make a move.

FYI, Men's Health has an article this month on doing this and who it is right for. check it out.
I would LOVE to open my own business, and I am considering doing so with my wife when our 2 year old goes to kindergarten. I don't have the capital or the kahones to attempt it now though, plus I have a rental house right now I want to get rid of before that happens. I am hoping things will pick up in the next few years.

I wouldn't be able to take any of my customers, I sell tax and accounting research and software. I will check out that article though, thanks for mentioning it.

Sorry, I skipped all the responces, so forgive me if this has already been said--

As I see it, you told us it's time to leave. Your goal was to do this, or something like this until you were 30, you are now 33 -- No big deal, but it sounds like its time to move on to continue with your life goals, by not you are not staying true to yourself.

I say, hold on for now until you find the next opportunity that you feel good about. It becomes harder and harder for everyone to take leaps as you get older, for lots of reasons, do it while you still can/are willing to.

Good luck, new chapters in one's life are always exciting.

Perhaps you should to change to a 35 yr goal. That gives you ~3yrs to save funds as per the MH article (You might not have an income that first year) I think if you're selling 90% from cold calls you'll do great. Probably should start as a side business. Let me know what's going. If you open your own, I'd like to KIT.
