Staining the Deck
Question: I have leftover materials from your kit, should I throw them away?
Answer: No way. Restore-A-Deck's cleaner is excellent for cleaning vinyl patio furniture, garage floors, housewashing, you name it. The only time we recommend caution is around color fast material.
Question: Is your product safe for the enviroment? I don't like the idea of chemicals on my deck or in my soil.
Answer: Restore-A-Deck is less abrasive to the wood than most of the products on the consumer market. It's primary ingredient is also found in OxyClean™. There are other proprietary chemicals in the formula, but all of them, once diluted with rinsing, meet all E.P.A standards for disposal and will safely drain into the soil without affecting the soil pH balance.
To add: I've always thoroughly rinsed the lawn around my deck with a good amount of water following the deck cleaning agent and have never had any grass die or change color or anything of the type.
I've had obvious overspray on my house's siding without any discoloration or the like.
Rock,
ReadySeal is a higher qaulity product as well. Plenty of contractors across the country use thier products with great results. ReadySeal is known to be the "fool proof" seal. Extremly hard not to get a great finish out of it.
As far as the percarb cleaners go, I use DeckBrite from Wolman. I no longer advocate using Wolman sealer, but thier cleaners are fantastic. Any Sherwinn-Williams should be able to get it for you as Wolman is a sub-company of Rust-Olleum. I have also seen it at the occasional Sears store.
And here it is online: http://www.ask.com/bar?q=wolman+wood...deck-siding%2F
The thing to remember is that most of the in-store cleaners are bottled "ready to use", and therfore do not get dilluted. The cost will be much higher using these cleaners. Brands like Wolman and the Restore-a-deck cleaner are powders that get mixed with water. I get 5 gallons of solution from roughly $20 worth of powder. Much more bang for your buck.

Now if we could just resurrect the bike skid mark thread!
Thanks, guys. I need to check around to see if I can find the Deck Brite or Restore A Deck products. Obviously, it's a lost cause to hunt for these at my local Home Depot or Lowes (was actually in Lowes today for something else -- everything they have is bleach-based).
There are a couple of paint shops somewhat near my remote office... I'll target Sherwin stores but, I know that there are a couple of Porter Paints shops close by... I may check there too.
Anyone tried Porter Deck from Porter Paints? It seems to get high marks based upon what I read...
It's getting to the point that I need to either let it fly and wipe with Charmin or get off of the pot.
No rain forecasted for this weekend... I'll probably wash Friday after work and then seal Sunday.
