Obama: FedEx & UPS are doing fine, USPS needs help

http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2009/0...all-meeting-2/

Obama says the private industry can compete against the government. “They do it all the time,” he says. “If you think about it, UPS and FedEx are doing just fine. It’s the Post Office that’s always having problems.”
Dude is arguing against HIS OWN policy? WTF? That's rather counter productive. But at least he has begun to tell the truth to the American public!

Sidenote: I HATE going to the Post Office. Only 2 people in front of me, and it STILL takes forever.

Yea I read a little blurb on that too.

Sounds like the Biden foot-in-mouth syndrom is wearing off on Obama.

I love it when he/government says you won't have to wait in lines. The way it is now that at most OBGYN's women have to book several months in advance just to get in the door. Same goes for several dentists and dermatologists. What happens when you introduce 30 to 45 million all at once into the healthcare system? I have a strong feeling that doctors are going to be booked solid for a long time and good luck trying to get into seeing one in a timely manner. Then the ER's will be full of people that really don't need to be there but cannot get into the general practice doctors.

Of course this is just speculation on my part but I feel that it will happen if this passes.

It's funny, but when he described his health plan in his last big press conference (The one where the Gates issue came up.), I made the USPS connection then.

On a related note, the postal service is closing 700 branches by September 30, and has about 3,200 branches on the 'watch' list. That's about 10% of all 32,000+- post offices.

BTW, the USPS stands to lose $7 billion this year.

Can't wait to see what happens when the government runs health care (and they will when many of insurance companies close up or greatly restrict the plans offered).

The whole health care bill is a huge government power grab! You want to reduce health care costs for millions of Americans? Here is where the President and Congress can start:

1) Tort reform
2) Illegal aliens only get health care if they pay up front.
3) Allow purchase of policies across state lines

pg 1016 of the healthcare bill
Division C Title V Subtitle D (g):
Preference - In awarding grants under this section the Secretary shall give preference to programs that -
(1) provide for improving nurse retention;
(2) provide for improving the DIVERSITY [emphasis added] of the new nurse graduates to reflect changes in the demographics of the patient population;
wtf.................not only does this bill allocate more power to GOVT, it perpetuates racism!!!

I'd change your #2 to say.

All uninsured health care recipients must pay a portion of each paycheck to the government, or hospital, until the bill is paid in full.

If they don't make any money. Take away a portion of their government aid till it's paid in full.

If they are illegal. Deport them after they a well enough to make the trip.

Nice to know that the Biden Foot in Mouth disease is contagious. Maybe now we will hear more of what they really want to do.

Come on now RileyDog, you know that you're taking Obama out of context. You're spreading misinformation and disinformation.

When he said this he ment that even though there is a government postal system, privately owned delivery firms are thriving.

I laughed when I heard him say that statement. I knew what he ment, but I don't think he realized just what he'd said.

So if these private firms are thriving (FEDEX and UPS) on their own money, why are we still giving tax dollars to the USPS to do a crappier job to do the same thing?

Cancel the USPS and all the money that goes into it, and give the work to UPS and FEDEX, or whoever else wants to buy it.

This guy is an idiot.....

The USPS is a joke it loses so much money. It lost 7 billion last year too. BTW, did anybody know that almost all of the USPS's overnight packages are delivered via FedEx? That becasue they can't do it. Government can't do it, and the government can't make health care better.

How is Mr. Obama going to give another 50+ million Americans (mexicans) health care, retain the level of care given to everyone now, without adding a single doctor??????

He can't do it, and he is flat lying to you when he says its budget neutral. That is a freakin LIE.

He is lieing about those things, and more.

But he CAN do it. He's got the votes in congress, without needing a single Republican.

Basically, your future health care is in the hands of the Blue Dog Dems. If Obama & Emmanuel buy them off or strong arm enough Blue Dogs, national healthcare is on the way.

The only other thing that could make Obama back down is if he realizes that forcing nationalized health care down our throats now means he will be a 1 term president.
