Apparently, I'm a Racist Now
White people were the first slaves. The word slave even comes from the name of the European Slavic people that were kidnapped by Norsemen and sold to black people in Africa.

obama was put in place as a figurehead by the white liberal democrats in washington ie: pelosi, frank, reid, dodd. kennedy etc. reason is exactly race. if you attack their agenda they can claim you dont like it because it was proposed by a black.
(Sorry if this is kinda all over the place....typing it at work and keep getting interrupted)
The whole thing stems from people trying to find the easy way for stuff. Is it easier to study and work for your education or say you were discriminated against in some way and get a free ride or not have to work as hard as everyone else? Of course it's not. Too many people are looking for a free handout and to be the 'victim'. What they need to do is get off the cross because someone else needs the wood. I think the best thing I've seen in a while was when the Supreme Court overthrew a lower court's (Sotomayor's actually) verdict that some New England firefighters were discriminated against because there weren't enough minorities qualified to take the test for a promotion. The fact that it had to go that far is total b.s. in my opinion. People wonder why negative racial/minority stereotypes exist. It's because people who fall into those stereotypes perpetuate them by playing the victim which perpetuates the whole situation. I fall into a minority and it irritates me to no end when I hear people whining and crying. Man up, take off your skirt and strap a set on. Sadly, there is legitimate discrimination and always will be, but if the prejudiced would learn how to overlook the superficial and others would quit perpetuating the actions that lead to the prejudice it's amazing what could happen. I've actually done it a few times.
I should have known better than to skim the paragraph and go straight to the bottom....

Im just playing im as straight as an arrow with a loving wife.

Good morning.
Well 2stroked, I don’t know you- but, I don’t think you’re racist because we may/may not disagree/agree on something. Based upon what you wrote, I don’t think you are racist at all. It’s all about perspective, and trying to understand what it’s like to be in someone else’s shoes. Although we may never really know what that’s like- it’s important to try- if we truly want to embrace logic as well as compassion. After all, we’re human- not Vulcan.
I don’t know how old you are, but if you think race has only become a big issue since Obama was elected, then I would guess you are fairly young. No disrespect in that- I’m just saying… Besides, if that’s how it seems to you, then that’s great because that means its getting better- at least where you live, and that is a good thing.
In the last 44 years (1965 – Present) racial relations in the United States have improved drastically, I’ll be the first to say that. Crosses are not burned on black’s yards nearly as much anymore, no black children are drug out of their homes and beat to death for whistling at white women, by white men- admit to it, and are then acquitted by all white juries. Black children are not bombed or burned in their churches any more, and our leaders (or self-proclaimed leaders) are not gunned down for voicing their constitutionally protected opinions to the masses any more. So yes, it’s better…
Although the surgery to fix the idea that blacks should stay in this corners, while the whites stay in that corner was performed via a combination of the civil rights movement, educational integration, Lyndon B. Johnson’s Affirmative Action (Which I love), Equal opportunity, and other programs- the scars didn’t heal over night. In fact, they aren’t fully healed yet and are still tender in some spots, but, it is still much better than it was in 1964 and prior.
Obama’s election to the presidency is proof that race has come a long way in this country. I’m very proud to see that in this country- one where race has been a divide since day one, has risen to a moral level to elect someone to the highest job in the land, who’s race has been ostracized by the majority for 189 years of it’s 233 year history, and for 200 years prior to that. Personally, the only place I expected to ever see a black president was on TV or in the movies- I never expected it to happen in my lifetime. I’m glad I was wrong.
Although I don’t think you are racist, here is a statement they may make you come across that way-
That is a flawed assumption. What facts do you have that support the idea that “a large percentage of the population” only voted for Obama because he’s black? That’s silly, and that is what comes across as racist ideology. It’s not based in fact, and it is an invalid and unproved assumption. You or I have no way of knowing why people voted so overwhelmingly for Obama. That’s the beauty of going into that voting booth. When you get in there, you are in there alone, with only your thoughts to guide you. No coercion- only your choice. On the other hand, I can’t prove they didn’t vote only based upon his race- but I think American is smarter than that- so I chose to give America’s citizens more credit than that.
I highly doubt his election was only because he was black. I think it was because people were SICK of Bush and Bush-like ideology. McCain (even though I liked him) was Bush-light, and the masses didn’t want four more years of Bush in a 72 year old brittle wrapper, with a moose-hunting “MILF” as his VP being a heartbeat away from the Presidency.
If you’ll recall- (if you were a member back then) I wasn’t even on Obama’s side. I was backing Hilary’s bid, but after Obama won the Democratic nomination, I voted for him, not as a default, but I liked his position more than I did McCain’s. Obama is smart, and he has good intentions. He’s exactly what the large percentage of the population wanted- change. Not just visible change, but to travel in hopefully a genuinely different direction. What people forget is he’s only been in office 6 months:
1.) We didn’t get in the mess overnight, so Obama can’t fix it over night.
2.) It took 8 years for Bush et al, to dig this hole- it can’t be filled in 6 months-17 days… Not without a lot of sand/dirt (money) and cooperation (House & senate).
3.) A President is only so powerful, and can only do so much without congressional approval.

As for the what if’s and why for’s (Regarding the police incident)- who knows how that would have went down? We can only go by what did happen. No one excuses Obama (that I’ve heard) for saying what he said. He was wrong, and if the Professor acted a fool with the cop, he was wrong too. If the cop lost his professionalism, he was wrong as well. I say they all acted stupidly- but, it’s not a big deal. People, even black, Harvard educated, top of their class at Harvard Law Presidents, can make mistakes. It’s not an impeachable offense to say something stupid. So, let’s get past this.
Race has always been, and for the foreseeable future, will remain a visible line in America. It is just gonna be that way until people truly begin to “judge [each other] not by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character” (MLK). Your father did great in that regard. However, because he took heat for it- is proof positive that programs like AA need to remain in place (whole different topic there though).
Nevertheless, people like you and I can help blur the dividing line a little bit each day, by how we work with each other, how we greet each other, and how we treat each other. I know it can work- in the military, the only color that mattered was green (Army). You didn’t care if your buddy was Black, White, Asian, Latino, Jewish, Arab, Aborigine, Albino, or whatever. You didn't care if they grew up in the Brentwood secion of Los Angeles or if they grew up in the Cabrini Green Projects in Chicago. They were your comrades, and some may even earn the title of friend, because they had earned your respect. That’s all that mattered. If races can embrace each other and work well together in the military, why can’t it work out here?
If we set aside statistics, preconceived notions, and reasons to fear one another, maybe one day the USA won’t be so black or white, but perhaps it’ll one day become a pleasing shade of gray.

That is, if they are completely honest with themselves.
( By Racist, I don't just mean black, white, and brown).
Anywhere you go, someone has more opportunity than another.
But, that is just an opinion.

Edit: I sounds to me like the OP was just dealing with punk thug wannabees.

I love it when people rearrange my words and twist it all out of context
I read a similar report a while ago with an editorial about how, yah, there are more blacks than hispanics than whites in prison, but then they're the ones being found guilty of more crimes by a jury of their peers.
You're not a racist if you hate everyone equally, right?
