Didn't know they had a limit (max) on the fine. That's in my area, bet he can't go to traffic school on that one. My nephew was over from Pheonix a few years back and on the way back, he flew past an Ariz. HP that had someone else stopped. With the little Yota floored, he didn't think the cop would drop that guy and go for him. Wrong! He got him at 109 MPH and his mom even had to go to court with him and it ran him $1200. I think the fine was only actually $89. and there was a stupidity surcharge of $1111. tacked on. He had that one coming.

In Texas, if you're going 26+ MPH over the posted speed limit, it's grounds for arrest. They'll cuff you and stuff you on a wreckless driving charge. Most COPS don't want to take the time to fill out the paperwork though so they normally give you the 25 MPH over fine.

here in Canada if your going 50 km/h over you lose your licence for a week and i think the maximum fine is a year without driving and a $5000 fine. Can't even pass vehicle in my truck now cuz every time i do im 50 over, we need your guys speed limits up here

Just because its grounds for arrest doesnt mean that have to arrest you. They just can arrest you for reckless driving. But if you are driving a buggatti thats worth over a million whats $500, lol.

Yeah, I figured it was fake pretty quick. At over 200+ mph, they would have added on about 10 other charges, like wreckless driving, etc,...

Plus, how many 23 year olds are going to be driving a Bugatti on the street? Rent a track if you got that kind of jack and feel the need to go 200 mph, lol.

Have any of you guys tried that GPS program that alerts you to speed traps. looks interesting. I was thinking of trying out phantom alert. anyone with personal experience in here?

I have heard nothing but great things about the passports, and drove my uncles lexus with one of the new ones in it with gps and it was awesome. But I dont see a need for it in my truck only the cars like his that have bigger engines than my 5.4 and do 130 and it feels like your driving 60, some pretty crazy stuff out there now.

You sure? Last time I heard it was double the speed limit, and you loose your license for a lot more then a week. Under double you just got the normal $100 fine + a dollar for every KM/HR you're over. Least that how it is around the prairies IIRC, but it's been a while since I've been ticketed for anything.

That's how it is here, too. I've actually cruised on past a cop that had someone stopped, thinking he wouldn't come after me... WRONG! Cool cop. Pulled me over and said I was doing 80 (can't remember if it was a 55 or a 65 zone) and I said "Yep, I 'F'ed up." He let me go with a failure to obey posted speed regulations which is basically speeding without the points because he said I was the first person that day that didn't argue with him. He then proceded to inform me that over the next few miles I'll see more cops than ever before. He was right.
