Agreed, but I don't think he should be put back into a position where he can be a role model for millions. There are plenty of new players that deserve a chance to make it big who have done the right things throughout their life.

M. Vick can bag my groceries, maybe even offer me fries with my burger. I think that's about all he's qualified to do at this point.

If a parent allows Mike Vick to be their childs' role model, then that parent is not doing their duty as a parent.

He should have a salary cap of $80,000 a year including any endorsements. I mean we abide by the law and bust our asses day in and day out, why should this turd make 20x what we make for playing freaking football?

I believe he'll make league minimum. He's played 6 seasons in the NFL.

As of the 2007 season, the minimum salary for a rookie is $285,000. The minimum salary increases according to the number of years the player has been in the league. The highest minimum salary is $820,000 for players who have been in the league 11 years or more.

The minimum salary structure for 2007 is as follows:

* Rookies and first-year players $285,000
* Second-year players $360,000
* Third-year $435,000
* Fourth-year $510,000
* Fifth- through seventh-year $595,000
* Eighth- through tenth-year $720,000
* Eleventh-year and longer $820,000

shouldn't even make that much. What a waste of money.

I'm scared that Jerry Jones will try another reclamation project. He does and I'm through with the Cowboys and I've been a fan since day one.

That's a whole other issue. There are plenty of people with children running wild who probably should have been sterilized. Funny thing is, those people seem to keep having kids. Check out the intro to "Idiocracy" if you haven't already seen it.

I think it's a sad commentary on our society as a whole. Unemployment is rampant, people have lost / are losing their retirement funds due to this economic downfall, housing values are in shambles, states are in debt, etc etc, yet we pay a bunch of dumbasses millions of dollars to play games. Some of them actually give back to the communities via charities and whatnot and that's great, but there are easily hundreds of jobs that are more deserving of higher pay. The teaching profession pops to the front of my mind. Imagine the kind of people you could recruit for, say $250k/yr, to teach our children? There's a reason that private schools generally produce higher quality students, and it's not just because the kids that go there are inherently smarter...

/rant off.

I know what you're saying, but keep in mind football, basketball, etc. players get paid because people go out and pay $110 bucks for a ticket or a jersey or what have you. The free market is a good thing. If people don't want to pay it, they don't have to.

It's a lot cheaper/easier to find a teacher than it is someone to throw a 98 MPH fastball consistently for 10 seasons.

But which is more important?

Free market is a good thing when people are intelligent enough to use it properly. How many $500 cars have you seen rolling around with $3000 rims on them?

Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

I agree with your points, but just who are the angels that are going to make things fair. Surely not gov't. Bankers run Washington, D.C. Both parties.

The gov't is obviously screwed as it is, I don't think they'll ever do anything that makes sense.

It's the intelligent people of this country that need to stand up and make the changes. That or maybe if thing get bad enough the idiots won't have the money to waste.

I'd love to see mandatory drug testing before anyone receives money from gov't programs, but I don't see that ever happening.

I agreed with Frank's original premise, 'he has paid his debt to society'.
Now either he has or he hasn't.
There is no reason to artificially restrict whatever earnings capability he has.

When you rob a bank you get ten years.
Not rob a bank, get ten years and must work for minimum wage for rest of your life.

There is some crazy talk going on here.

I thought I'd never see the day that I somewhat agree with T.O. Vick has served 23 months in prison! Almost two years for dog fighting. Its very unmoral to do this but at the same time its dogs. And believe me I'm a huge dog lover but it wasn't like they were humans. I believe Vick has served his time and should be reinstated. I don't think anyone will resign him. Although I have heard Bill Parcels was interested in him. I'd hate to see him go to my dolphins because we have a QB for the future and we have Pat White to run the wildcat. But even if he gets picked up he won't start.

That is crazy talk! Next thing you know, the government will artificially restrict what private sector persons can make, with no possibility of appeal!

Oh, wait, that's already happened.
