Medic!!! no really, need insight.

So today i ****ed up pretty good... dropped a 300# electric motor on my little pinky. tore my tendons at the furthest joint. distal joint if thats the right term...

seems like the worst spot to do the damage, but the path way is almost all open for the doc to look at fixing the tendons.

have a look, crappy cell pic but gives ya an idea what 300# of copper does.

ouch man as long as you don't lose it, that would be the worst outcome.

nah should be ok, nurse cleaned the hell out of it. it felt way better when they used local anesthetics compared to me rinsing it with water. that almost made me cry lol, not the actual drop.

I'm sorry to say, but your hand modelling career is over. However, if they sew a zipper onto that, you could use it as a coin purse!

Get the ligament fixed ASAP

I cut up my pinky pretty bad a few years ago, and I neglected to get the damage repaired. 4 years later I'm regretting not fixing it. At first I lost approx 40% of my grip in my right hand. Over the past 4 years I've managed to get most of it back but it's still a little weird. I talked to a doc about 2 years after the injury, he said If I would have repaired it sooner it would have been fine, but since I waited there wasn't a lot they could do.

Do whatever you can to keep it clean. You really don't want a bad infection.

You might have to switch hands for awhile, lol.

IMO, looks nasty, but should heal up well.

the first ER doc was not confident for he is not a hand surgeon.

you need a hand surgeon to fix and repair it.

Get a good one and you will be fine.

Keep it clean with anti bacterial soap and do as they say.

keep it covered during the day to prevent dirt from getting in the open wound which will cause infection. keep it open at night so air can get in which will let it heal. have they done an XRAY yet?

Ligaments aren't actually the hard parts, it's the tendons. Cut a tendon in your finger and it can end up in your forearm somewhere...

One of my firefighters cut a tendon in distal joint of index finger and got his finger zippered all the way back to his hand so they could get to the tendon.

migdaddy's advice is spot on. Also keep up with whatever rehab they give you to maintain maximum ROM/use.
