He's gone!!!! Looks like where the chicken wire meets the foundation he squeezed through. Stopping by Home Depot and getting some tap-cons tonight.

Yeah, thanks!

Honestly though, as freaked out by it as I was. some good humor to make light of the situation helped. I can handle most things but a trapped skunk right next to the house was a whole different ball game.

This is what you need to do if you really want to get it just shoot it with a shotgun make sure you kill it with one shot and its dead right away or it will smell real bad. Or you can go to lowes and get a have a hart trap or home depot or tractor stores. Put any kind of meat preferably chicken in and then take a scoop of peanut butter and mix them together use that as bait in the trap. You will catch him over night doing that no problem. Once you get him walk up to the trap holding a big blanket out in front of you, he will not be alarmed at all (you dont have to take caution he will not spray you) then cover the trap with the blanket and you can carry it where ever you want or even put it in the back of your truck and drive it somewhere as long as the blanket is covering it. It will not spray if they dont know what there seeing. Beyond this point its up to you I would just get it away from your house, once you get one keep setting the trap you will be amazed how many you can get. I caught 48 of them last summer at work just setting traps around my uncles home, couldnt believe how many.

aPINCH reminded me of when my Dad was having skunks get into his barn, over and over again. Couldn't plug all the holes up I guess. Anyway, he went out and bought a Have-A-heart trap. Started catching these things and taking them away in the truck, except he kept catching them so he figured they were just coming back. I'll never forget the first time I watched my dad shoot a skunk that he caught......caged in a Have-A-heart trap. Even as young as I was I couldn't help but chuckle at the irony.
