Cool New member !

So, after 7 hours at the dealership I drove off my very first truck. A bright red 2001 F150 XLT FlareSide SuperCab. I must admit that I kicked some serious áss at the dealership, and got the *exact* deal that I wanted. I toke some time, but I did it.

I can't stop going to the window and checking my new truck out. It is so cool. I figured the first thing I did was register and post on this forum. Then go buy some Linux bumper stickers.

I've got some questions about customizing it, that I'll ask later when I'm less happy.

So, hello to all!

d.

I traded in my 1998 Mazda Protege for US$8000 (over Edmund's TMV), and got the F150 for $100 less than the cheapest on-line invoice quote I could generate. Dealers absolutely *hate* smart people that do the research and show up with "the folder" full of current and accurate information. There is no room for them to play you around.

I just drove it this morning again...I can't wipe the smile off my face.

Thumbs up

Way to go !! Welcome and good luck with your truck. My philosophy is similar; if they're not mad when you leave, then you got ripped.

dengel,
That feeling never seems to fade. Your explanation makes me smile for you, and it sounds like a beautiful truck. I always liked the red supercab flaresides. I leased a 98 dark torredor red flareside before I bought this 2000 black Lariat, and I have loved owning both of them.

"I traded in my 1998 Mazda Protege" man what a change in rides,I know you will love the truck, I am on my 3rd F150, I also had 2 of the early 70's Broncos and a F250.
You will be hooked on the Ford real soon if not allready, and next thing you know a few years from now you will be on you 2nd Ford truck. As we all know Ford makes the best truck.

Good luck, and I look foward seeing what you do to the tuck.

Nitrox, yes I'm in Raleigh. Listen, maybe you could guide me a little bit on customizing my truck. I need to get nerf bars ASAP (for my wife to get in without a big hop). Could you point me to where you'd recomend for that? Thank you.

d.
ps. And thank you'all for the warm welcome

dengel:

As for myself, I prefer frame mounted nerf bars; which are the type I have. Mine were made by Sterling Equipment.

A company called Westin Automotive makes a model that mounts to your factory mounting points on the body of your truck.

There are more manufacturers, but I think these two are the prefered. Hope this helps ...
