Well after 40 days at the dealers bodyshop I finally got my truck back. No more evidence of the school bus hit. Paint looks far better than I expected it to and looks like glass. Found a few little things they need to take care of like crooked stripe on fender where two-tone meets, small chip on door edge etc. Bought some new speakers,HU and amp today and took the panels off the doors to install and they were a little light on the paint there but all visible areas are fine. Also noticed the new bed section seems to be a little narrower(width on pass side) so it doesn`t line up perfect to the body like it used to but unless you know to look for it people really wont notice. They put the new door style on too so maybe I can escape the door cracks on one side at least . They left me a new F150 XLT triton V8 emblem on the seat for me at no charge, asked if they had any laying around for the tailgate and he said he would find me one.
Now its just a wait to see how long the new paint takes to attract another hit or the kids bikes...
Will post pics of repairs as soon as I get camera back from buddy.

Same here, glad to see it all worked out okay. Did they provide you with a rental the whole time? Did you ever hear anything more on the school bus driver?

I am happy you got the truck back too, and that they did a good job. Now just stay away from them school buses.

The Dept of Justice handles all school district claims and yes the paid for a 2001 SuperCrew for a rental for all that time. They also are paying me off a sum of money for depreciation value and a little extra. It looks like its enough to close the note on my truck possibly. They won`t disclose any info on the School bus driver even though I have requested it. Just hope she still isn`t driving for them though, although she may still possibly be in law trouble due to her warrants.

It sounds like the school district is getting off cheap. I have a feeling that they're breathing sigh of relief that you didn't sue them.

 

Good to hear you got it back! As a bodyshop guy,I can tell you no job ever comes out 100% perfect. Some shops try harder than others,though. The main thing is that you have no wind noise,and that your happy with the way the finish came out. Got any pics of the repair yet? ,,,,98
