"...might have" is quite different when compared to Laura actually causing the death of her friend.

So what? Big deal, **** happens. I hope you don't consistently use this information for defaming her. You know, your previous post was actually kindof interesting, but now you're again talking about how she's killed someone. She didn't KILL them intentionally. You make it sound as if she's a murderer.

I'm Democratic, voted for Gore, but geez, I feel for Laura. I don't think this should have ANY bearing on politics or her personal image. This is MUCH different than what I was posting about w/ the WWJD? That was a parody for fun. A death isn't anything fun.

My thought on all this is that, no, family indiscretions should not be used to defame the President, or used to detract and distract from the substantive issues. That said, everyone should understand that "what should be" isn't always "what is" and behave accordingly when stakes are raised.

The twins' news shouldn't have been blown up like this, but it'd be foolish to think that the twins did not entirely appreciate the possible ramification of their actions (young though as they may be, they are still bright college students). First off, we can all criticize the media for handling the news like this, and I do too, but secondly, there is a distinct lack of maturity on the part of the twins for failing (or refusing) to avoid the obvious. Those two issues are separate.

And there's that issue of using Secret Service agents to pick up a friend from jail...

For Laura, I have much more sympathy.

One thing people have to understand. The Republicans crucified Clinton, his administration, and his wife.

The Republicans should have known that they opened the door and by doing so, they put themselves up for intense scrutiny in the future. It's called fair play and exposing somebody for being a hypocrit is in the public's interest. Remember the revelation the Pat Robertson had premarital sex?

You know, it's pretty funny actually. The Kennedy grand kids were raked over the coals for their indiscretions and have been under the magnifying glass of the media and conservatives for decades. Put the Bush kids under that same magnifying glass and everybody is up in arms about how unfair it is. Talk about doubblle standards!

It's clear to me. There are hypocrits everywhere.

As far as Laura goes, there are still questions about her accident that are unanswered. Like Ted Kennedy and his accident. The fact is, Laura was driving and her passenger died. Nobody hit her car.

All I'm saying is the Bushes have their own skeletons and ANYBODY in politics, especially the President of this country, is a public figure and their whole life and their family's lives are open to scrutiny. It's the price they pay for the position. If they didn't want the skeletons and indiscretions brought out in public, they should remain private citizens.

Where Bush went wrong is he didn't come clean before he started campaigning about family values, ethics, and religion, "So help me God."
