Crash Test Results
Did any of you happen to catch that story on the crash tests performed on the f-150?
It seems that the governments test went well
and the vehicle, a supercrew, was given a passing grade. This test was head on into a barrier at a speed I can't recall.
The Insurance Institute also ran a test, where they took a supercab and ran in into a barrier, but only on the drivers side, at a speed I can't recall. This truck was recked
to the point of being scary.
Keep in mind these were two differn't tests on two similar but differn't trucks.
Any one else catch it?

I seen the story on it on CNBC Friday night as it was only a couple weeks after the one on dateline failed so badly and now the goverment one comes out with a 5 star passing grade.

I dunno. I kinda liked the IIHS testing as opposed to the NHTSA (government) testing. This actually provoked thoughts of trading my F-150 away to a ...ahem... Tundra.
I slapped myself silly and then let others slap me around too.
As far as comparing the two tests, make your own judgement.

NHTSA on F-150: http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/ncap/cars/1604.html
Regardless of your thoughts on my Tundra-trade thing, it is thought provoking. Shouldn't we demand a safe truck? The IIHS test shows severe injury (if not fatal).
I imagine Ford will probably make some changes to get past this bad press.
