Another mower question
Whats up guys. I just got off the phone with the dude that mowes my lawn. Last week dude pulled up with a 10 or 11 year old boy who supported him in cutting my lawn.
When I finally got out to look around I noticed what a horrible job the kid had done, and they had been leaving a section of my yard uncut. So I fired him, now I have to start cutting it again. Only reason I got him in the first place was because my mower sucks. I currently use a older Honda, those 100lb jokers with the self propel. The wheel stripped out last year and the self propel is useless now. So Im going to scout around for one here in a little while, I would like something lighter than that Honda but that cuts as good and runs as good as it. The only reason I don't like that is cause its a Hoss Cartwright of a push mower. I need self propel too, you guys seen those zero turn push mowers thad be nice, but I cant afford 500 for one.
Welp lemme know what you guys think, yard is almost 90% on a slope tons of maple trees with above ground roots. Thats why I have to get a push mower.
Later tater!

I am not sure wher eyou live, but I would look on Craigslist for a mower---you can get them pretty cheap and they will be normally in pretty decent shape, too.
I have a Sears Craftsman that I have had for over ten years---with a tune-up evey now and then it has done fine by me--65. horsepower, I think.

If it's an older Honda, it should be rear wheel drive. The wheels are only like $12.00 a piece and they just have little spring loaded clips that allows it to lock the rear tires up to pull the mower. Why spend more money on a new mower? If it's a Honda HR214 mower, you'd be surprised just how many folks are wanting that model of mower. It's the same as the newer Masters Series commercial mowers and those are selling for over a grand. I've got an 86 Honda that gets run every year and I've had to replace the throttle cable and all of the wheels. But it passes the Sarah Johnson test everytime- one pull on the cord and she's runnin'.

Now you have to take it apart and find what is bad.

I like the Husqvarna, -had 4 husky's in the past, but they were all dirt bikes and the other half had a husky sewing machine lol -Have a DEERE tractor/trailer, it's awesome! Had a Craftsmen for a few years, but it had a Tecumseh 6.5hp engine that had absolutely NO torque
- NEVER get on w/a Tecumseh, their junk!I use a little track drive Honda 2 stage Snow-thrower in the winter most of the time, but have a 13 horse Craftsman with a Briggs for the real heavy stuff. Both those machines and my mower is one pull - they fire right up every-time.
Anyway Labnerd, I Have the same model, well almost ~ HRR216VXA. Mannn, I used others, they just don't compare. Just replaced the blade, - well "blades" - Damn thing has 2 under their lol. That thing just cuts it down and doesn't skip a beat as far as rpms and always starts,- I need to clean mine up a bit..
But yea, the wheels are looking a little ruff.. - Never thought of replacing them until now , I guess I should replace that ugly as hell muffler as well.

Yea, yea - I need to clean the garage...

To the OP, I guess you get what you pay for in mowers. Mowing the lawn sortuh sucks, but the right tools for the job help with that.

Im still looking for new wheels lol. I found a set of 4 on ebay but they wanted 75 bucks for them! sheesh. Im going to keep lookin around, and yes that john deere was the same one I looked at awhile back.
Just go to homedepot and get a Toro 22" cut selfpropelled. Ive got one and so does everyone else. All i do is put gas in it and sharpen the blades. Going on 3 yrs now and starts after a couple pulls everytime.
