Spotlight
Spotlight
I didnt know which section to put this in but I figured GD would be alright. So I want to get a Spotlight. Not for deer. I have a couple of ideas. I am also planning to mount some off road lights behind the grill.
So, I have a meeting on Friday about disaster service volunteering with the red cross. I could also use one for work. I dont know if I want something I can set it and leave it on my truck while I work or the mobility of handheld. Should I get one that plugs into the 12v?

Should I get one of those handheld multi-million candle powered?

Or I could get like a pro-comp or Warn and make a bracket to fit on my mirror I could take on and off. (Only question with that is can i wire it to fit the 12v or would i have to hard wire it?)

Each idea has it's pros and cons.
So what do ya'll have/use? Is it nice/bright/easy?

If I chose that route, I was gonna make brackets that swiveled and clamped on and used QDisconnnect wire couplings. All in all, they'd only be there if I needed them.
Well if you are talking about the Procomp off-road lights, once you remove power to them your not going to have any light. Maybe I'm not sure what you mean. I thought you were wanting something you could take off and use as a hand held if needed.
Yeah I should probably be a little clearer about my intentions. I am a 24/7 responder with my job and I am looking into volunteering with the Red Cross (I just became an instructor). That will put me on call one week outta five. I know you're responded in my other thread. This is different. I want something I can adjust. I might have to go with more then one action. The bracket I'd fab for the warn light would be removable. All you'd see (if I hardwire it) would be a short length of wires and the harness. Then all I have to do is clamp on the bracket and plug in the harness. PROS, I could set it where I needed it, and it would never die and seems to have a very long range. CONS, has to be on truck to be in use. If i need to adjust, might have to move whole truck.

I thought about those police lights. I think the handle would interfer with the position of my Edge.
I'm sure AT LEAST one of you guys are spot-lightin deer. I dont need to know if you do. I just wanna know what you're using.

Well I you could do it the way you said just leave a lot of extra wire you can pull it out and set it on the ground if you rather. Problem with that is if you have to leave and your in sum what of a hurry, your going to have to tuck all those wires back in or they just going to be hanging down. I would say mount some lights behind your grille, and have a hand held spotlight with you.
No no, if I used the Warn (Which I'm not leaning towards, anymore) I wouldnt take them with me. I'd make a clamp. Clamp it to the mirror so it'd ride right on top and have an exposed harness only about 8-12" of wire. These were attractive cuz they're bright and never die (cuz my truck would be running). And they are little in comparison to the hand helds.
