He was never behind a fence. I'm assuming he traveled here from out of state. He was just spotted in Iowa yesterday. That is a cow in the foreground of the second picture.

Bears can MOVE when they are motivated. If you can climb over it or through it, a bear can do it too, only much faster.

I've seen a scared bear bound up a hillside like he was a deer. At that time I made note to myself: Don't ever try to outrun a bear.

I have never seen one that large, reported outside mountain country.
Big bears like better cover. But one thing you have to know, It was a bigger bear that made him move.

not too long ago one was hit on I-26. never thought i'd hear of a bear in the lowcountry.
