I'd say she got what she deserved! He could have hurt her worse if he would have forcefully cuffed her.

OK, she was a beyotch, but it seems like there should have been a better way for the officer to handle the situation.

Oh well, tough call on the choice to use the taser. I probably would have had her sign as soon as she offered, and not worried so much about the danger from the traffic. I realize traffic was a concern, but the sooner she signs, the sooner everyone gets out of there, and she offered to sign after she got ouf of the vehicle.

If you hear all the audio available for this traffic stop, you'll change your tune.
He was very quick to anger with this old lady. He was instantly screaming, instead of trying to calmly control the situation. She was stupid, but he was out of line. I hope he loses the lawsuit. Let the flaming commence.

If the cop was "quick to anger' I did not see it in that video and really so what if he was he warned her several times of what was going to happen before he did it. If I was being an a**hole to a cop and he yelled commands at me I would not be offended or surprised but I sure as hell would comply. She was speeding and she was pissed she was caught we have all been there. Is your first response to yell and swear at the cop who was doing his job or suck it up and remember not to speed through that fishing hole again. If it was me I would have shot her for being a moron.

I think he handled it right, yea he could of been calmer, but think if you were in his shoes? your on the side of a busy road and the person you stop is becoming more and more angry, and people now a days you never know what theyll do. he asked her to cuff up and she refused and then tried to go back to her truck....aka she got tazed...he could of forcefully taken her down.....Police never know whats going to happen or whos or what is in the car when they pull up...gotta do whatever you have to do to go home at night.

Sign the ticket or go to jail, resist arrest and get tazed,it's that simple.

I started to post this yesterday. I think the officer shouldn't have teaser ed her. The lady was 72yrs old and far from a threat to the officer.

Yeah, I think it was a bit out of line.

Besides she could've died from the electricity.

To me whether it is a knife, taser, gun, or anything like that, it is a weapon and should be used if the other party has more force than you or they have a weapon. That little old lady had nothing that could harm that officer.

Nobody is above the law. The officer was in his rights to do so IMO... Break the law, try to leave the scene, becoming verbally abusive, she got what she deserved.

One question though? It is requirement for people who commit traffic violations in TX to sign their tickets? This is the first I've heard of this. To be honest with you, I probably wouldn't have signed it either. To me, that is an admission of guilt. Why do you have to sign them.

While I probably wouldn't have signed it, I would have been respectful to the cop and explained why I will not sign it. He's just doing his job and I understand that. But I would have told him I will wait for my day in court. In MI, we don't have to sign them (at least I don't think, haven't had a ticket in a while though).

Well in the Great State Of Texas, you signing the ticket only means you are promising to go to court and is not a admission of guilt. Failure to sign ticket officer will instanter you before a judge (IE) jail. So my advice to any out of staters sign the dam ticket on the side of the road and fight it in court not on the highway because you will get tazed if you resist.

I believe the signature is a promise that you will appear in court, nothing more, nothing less.

Not worth getting tazed over, and not worth tazing someone over, IMO, especially if they pose no physical threat to the officer or anyone else.

I'm not going to bust all over the cop for this, as the great grandma's actions clearly contributed to her getting tazed.

However, I just think the situation would have gone down differently with most other cops - they would have been able to get her to sign the ticket without having to taze her.

Here's my thought on this. Now days, when there is someone pulled over, there are so many rubber necks out there, that slows down to see whats going on, and then, BANG. They get rearended. He was telling her to get over and she refused. He was looking out for his and her safety. And she refused. There has been so many cops and state troopers killed because of people like this. She broke the law, and now, she has to pay for how she acted. I don't see how there will be a law suit to this. TMO.
