Trip of a lifetime?
Well - an update - for those that are interested.
We have set Jan. 6, 2001 - as our departure date from Vancouver Island, Canada to USA South & East.
Because we live so close to Calif. & have done the desert & coast before, we have decided to I/state to Casa Grande, Ariz. by the most expidisious means, we MAY do old Sacramento (never done) for a day.
We have friends to visit in Ariz. & then will head to Las Cruses - NM / El Passo, Tx. and hang there for a few days. Thence to San Antonio. for some fun times & then down to the gulf coast.
We will then head to "Nawlins" - hopefully before Mardi Gras - only 'cause I can't stand 3million people, but love Nawlins.
Remember - we ONLY HAVE 4 MONTHS !!!
Then to Fla./Usa. for the last part of Feb.
Whatever else happens between now & Mar 18, 2001 will happen, but I have tickets to the DARLINGTON on Mar 18 & I will be there come H, or HW. - after that its - play it by steering wheel. We might head back south - depending on weather, or not.
We plan on heading up towards Winnipeg, Man. by the middle of April to see my lady's 93 year young mother, & then back to the Island by end April - 1st of May.
I hope we can meet & greet lots of the souls we have had contact with on this site.
Plans are still VERRY sketchey & can change at a whim.
Some things are chiped in stone!!
Texas, Nawlins, Fla. Keys, & of course Darlington.
- most other things are a coin toss.
I estimate we will put 20,000 plus Kms. on the F150 & 5th wheel, but Ginger (the wonder dog), Margie (the morph. queen, don't even guess) & I the ever present road runner will likely enjoy most of them.
I have been spending the last month or so updating all my fluid changes, etc. - new tires, muffler & any parts that might fall off, although I must say, at 37000 kms (abt 23000 Mi.) I have had NO PROBLEMS !!! - small door crack - never widened, or advanced, NO rear window leak, no rust - in fact - the ONLY time it was back at dealers was for the original 5000 Km. check - When I put on BFG Long Trail T/A's, earlier this wk. to replace P series F/stones (not recalled, but wanted E rated tires) I had the front end checked & the guy said - NO PROBS. - IT'S STILL WITHIN SPEC. Brake pads & rotors / drums are good for another 30,000 Kms. Is that FORD TOUGH, or what?
I managed to add a laptop 'puter to my arsenal & hope to keep in touch with anyone that may be interested in our travels.
I would like to thank Davensa, Tina, Seacrow & many others that answered my post when I first had this trip in mind - maybe even Raoul (If he is sober), and hope we can have a "eyeball" with a bunch of you dudes & dudets when we are in your area (& believe me, we WILL try to make it to your "neck of the woods") - Might even make Milan ATST!!!
We would love to hear from anyone interested in our odyssey - email to - bekair@home.com -or a message in this column.
& hey folks T.a M.

If you get the opportunity, head on up towards the motor city.... Detroit stinks, but Windsor Ontario is nice for a day, and there's always Mackinac Island... that makes a good weekend, Tahquamenon falls up in the Upper Peninsula is a nice trip too... maybe back down the west side of Lake Michigan towards Chicago with a stop in Milwaukee to tour the plant and taste the beer from ( I think it's Budweiser there) a weekend or two in Chicago... lots to see there.... Take lots of pictures and post them as you can... would be nice to keep tabs of you and set up meetings if you're in the area. Maybe we could all live an adventure through you! :-) Good luck, and have a safe trip.

The trip was EXCELLANT. We drove almost 19,000 Kms - or almost 12,000 miles. We were away from home for 119 days & went as far east as St. Augustine Fla. We averaged 10 Mi. per US gallon and had absolutley no probs with truck or trailer.
