Do we have any tent campers here?

We are heading up to the mountains again next week, and we are bringing some friends this time so I finally splurged on a new tent. I am not sure who actually makes it, because it has the Bass Pro brand, but it is definately much higher quality than any I have used in the past. It has some nice features, like skylights in the fly, downward facing vents near the bottom for air circulation even in the rain, 2 shoe lockers that can be accessed from the outside or the inside, privacy curtains for 4 rooms, and 3 separate entrances. Setup is simple, but at 20' x 15' it definately is no fun without a second person.

Has anyone here used seam sealer? If so, what have you found to work best?

geez...that thing is HUGE! The outside looks about as big as my 10X20 tent I just got, but the inside is no comparison. Mine has a center 'living room' with doors on either end and a room with a permanent 'wall' with zipper door on either side of it. I got a little nervous when the instructions said it was necessary to have 2 people to set it up. It's actually easier for 1 person to set up than some of the other ones I've owned. And, for $119, I really couldn't beat it.

As far as seam sealers go, I haven't put anything on the new tent yet. Over Memorial Day weekend there were a few serious downpours and only took on a very little bit of water from somewhere...I have no idea where. All the water beaded and ran off the fly like I had just put a fresh coat of wax on it. If you really want to put something on it, check out some of the camping websites or, better yet, camping forums. Possible info overload, but I'm sure some will be quite helpful

that is a huge tent. I have a coleman http://www.coleman.com/coleman/Colem..._id=2000001975
the one i have is a little different (5 years old). Its real nice cause underneath the removalble rain flap top thing is two big screens. So it basically turns into a giant screen tent with everything open and off. I have been through some pretty big storms in it and havent had a drop of water in it. Couldnt ask for a better tent

How many sq ft is that? About 900!!!!! I love tent camping. I have three different tents that I use depending on the particulars. One person being the smallest and a 6 person being the largest. I've never had to use any seam filler for a tent though.

Does it come with an optional zip on parking garage for your truck?

Sadly, my truck will have to brave the elements.

I know it's a bit large, but in the mountains here in PA, air mattresses are a must, and they take up quite a bit of space. This one will fit queen sized mattresses in each of the 4 rooms, and there is still lots of room for gear or even a 5th mattress. Perfect for the size of some of our groups. I do have 2 other tents that will still be used for those smaller groups, but neither is built as well as this one, so if rain is in the forecast, the tentominium will likely get the job...

Thanks for the input all. I'll check out the camping forums too.

That is one huge tent. I'll bet that there's about as much room in there as there is in our humble home.

We don't get too much time off from work so we don't take many vacations. When we do we almost always tent it. It's much cheaper than the alternatives. It's fun too. Also, our vacations involve a hike or two so it's always easy to find a cool camp ground in the mountains.

We've never had good luck with tents holding up. I'm not sure what we're doing wrong but we haven't got much more than five years out of them. We've been looking for something that willhold up better. It looks like we're going to have to spend a few bucks for a good one. I don't think we need the kind of area that you've got in that mansion.

Yep. Tenting is cool. Just writing about it makes me think of sitting by the fire enjoying a nice, local micro-brew.

That's bigger than my first apartment and about half the size of my house now.
