Cool

Many times people like to feel connected currently or increase their post numbers. Some people are not aware that certain information is available much faster reading their owner's manuals (ex. what weight oil, tire pressure, etc.), or a general browser search (ex. where can I see Flowmaster, K&N, etc.), MUCH LESS A "SEARCH". It's part of the game here, been addressed many times, and will not stop in the future.

I have been here a short time and agree with you all the way. This sort of reminds me of high school when some dumb a$$ would ask the same question that another student just asked five minutes ago. Wonder why school was so boring.

I do know that a repeat in question does bring new perspectives to the table. How often does some one that has an answer to something do a search for a question. Not very likely. Maybe the repeated question will attract someone who has not seen the question before.

I am sort of getting tired of seeing, "What kind of oil should I use?" Personaly I use olive oil. Still This is the best and most informitive websight I have come across.

Look at the menu to the left, there is an item called "F.A.Q" which stands for "Frequently Asked Questions." I purchased and installed that software more than a year ago because people were starting to complain about repeat topics being posted here (as noted by ATST). The result was dozens of volunteers that told me they would be happy to contribute to the FAQ. The reality, nobody did. Instead of publicly complaining about people that posts these topics, which can only serve to alienate the newcomers (you were all newcomers once) compile the repeat questions so we can assemble them into the FAQ...just like the Lightning folks did.

Steve

I agree it aat times it can get aggravating reading some of the same stuff over and over again, I've been registered since Nov 98 and have seen it many of times. I may not have a lot of posts for being here so long but my family can attest to the fact that I'm here daily, lol (which aggravates them!).

Sometimes people search and just don't know how to search correctly or use the correct terms, a lot of new computers users visit daily. They're still learning how to use that thing and the internet.

I also agree that it's a way for some people just to fit in. Trucks change, opinions changes, new fixes come out. The board has grown so large in the registered numbers you're going to get some new feedbacks. Should they bring the topic to the top? Sure, but again, some people just don't understand or realize that.

Now Steve I could understand getting upset, eating up his server space.

Cool

You'll never stop it. It's just part of any message board. Don't answer it if you think it's been covered a dozen times. To be fair to the ad-nauseum posters, it does take a *long* time to do a search unless it's narrowed to only one forum. I thought it took a long time on a DSL line, but I was shocked how long it took over a modem.

Oh yea, once this post gets old, they'd have to search for it, which kinda defeats it's purpose

I think the best option is a disclaimer simailar to the L forum. List all of the stuff we don't need new posts for, for example, the "Bladerunner"

Yea... Do a search before you tell everyone else to do a search!

Personally I don't mind the repeat questions. I ignore them if I'm not interested. You have to keep in mind that as the user base grows, so does the "opinion" base. Doing a search will often only show the opinions of the more senior members.

heck, if weren't for all the repeat questions I would only have 12 posts....
seriuosly though, I don't mind answering helping the newcomers with questions that I can answer.
