Does anyone know if the 2002 Explorer in dash CD Changer will fit in our trucks? Also, how much are they, and how much power do they have?

I see that the in dash CD changer is in the new Blackwood. It is standard for that truck and should fit the F150.

Are the Exploder and Blackwood decks 2 different models?

 

Well see my Dad got a 2002 Explorer with the in dash 6 disk and he does not really listen to CD's so he said I could swap them with my stock CD. Well My stock CD fits fine in his but his does not slide all the way back due to the fact that his is square like a block and the F-150 one is made with a angle (in the back of the unit) so it will slide all the way into the dash. I mean if they would fit im sure Ford would make it an opt. for 2001 F-150 but its not.

Then how can it be an option on the Blackwood? Are the dashes that different?

 

The Explorer dash is shaped different than the F150. My wife's Explorer radio has a different shape than my SCrew.

Go to this site and look under radio. The standard radio on the Blackwood is the 6 CD in dash, not an option.

Now if your radio HAPPENED to be stolen........I guess you would have your choice and could try to fit it in.

 

I thought I read somewhere on here that someone modified their dash to accomodate a cd-cassette player, which I would assume is about the same size as the cd changer. I think it will probably fit, with some modifications. Good luck. Let us know if you do it.

 

OK I had to pick up my truck today from the Ford Dealer (got my power mirrors fixed and ask the Manger of the repairs department (my Dads friend) and he said there is no way that it will fit and that to make it fit in the Blackwood Ford, had to make the inside support of the dash way different. I should of ask him if they changed the inside metal frame on the 2001 f-150 dash. But he did tell me that it would not fit in mine and I have a 2000 F-150. But I guess you might can modify it, but i can e-mail you some photos where I tried to install my dads Explorer cd in my truck in the inside of the dash is scratched to hell, im just glad I did not push too hard or it would of cracked through the dash. Just don’t push too hard if you try because it would suck to have to pay a bill to get my dash piece replaced.
