Thumbs down The devil is tempting me all the time

I saw this freaking nice 1978 Ford truck! It has been fully restored (frame up). The guy took 4 years to build it! The truck has a 351 (not the M400).

It's an awsome blue with silver fender flares! The truck has 35" tires and obviously is a 4x4! It has Rancho shocks and steering stabilizers! Anyway, under the truck is as clean as it is on top! The interior is extremely clean! The engine runs like a dream and the pure dual exhaust sound will make your heart melt into your pants!

I told myself that I will save up some cash and not buy a second vehicle as of yet! Instead I wanted to wait a few years and buy a new Lightning or a Mustang V8!!!! Ughhhh... Oh well? On another note the company wants to send me to University for management courses? Maybe I'll get that new truck sooner than I think LOL

::end of rant::

I snapped a shot of the truck! Keep in mind that it was a "drive by shooting" so you will see bug stains on my windshield and such... I don't want to stop and take pictures

Buying this isn't the brightest idea because of rising fuel prices and there is talk about having our vehicles undergo yearly inspections! I think back in 1978, they had anti-pollution control systems! This truck has a 351 Cleveland which replaced the 351M400!!! Obviously the truck has no more anti-pollution systems.

He was fist asking 11,000 bucks, now he is down to 9,000 dollars! He said the truck has over 14,000 dollars in repairs and restorage!

If it was around 3,000 dollars I'd seriously think about it. But he just laughed in my face? Anyway let's see who will laugh last!

The people interested in this thing are cool 16 to 25 year olds but they can't afford it. The banks will never loan 9,000 bucks for a 1978 truck, it would have to go through evaluation, etc... Around here you won't see very many people who would pay that much for this thing... I'll call him this summer to see what new deal he will propose, for the fun of it

Cool

Nah, I'll pass on it! But I love to look at those nice old trucks! I love that model! I can get a stepside 2WD of the same year with a 390 V8... But it comes down to the same problem which is it isn't free LOL

I really would rather have a new Lightning in 2 years than an old truck right now! So I'll try and be smart with my cash for a change But just because I'm on a diet, it doesn't mean I can't look at the menu! (hey I can use that saying here too, right?) LOL

Thanks though,
SG

It looks like a 1976 or 1977 to me. I used to have a 1978 F250 and mine had a different grill. Still looks like a nice truck, and I still miss the old truck. It was a nice truck until my friend rolled it one night.

The 78 is my favorite year of all time. I would give my left nut for a cherry one in stock form with the 400M in it (ok, I really wouldnt, but I would love to have one!) We use to have a 78 Bronco Ranger XLT that was the coolest in my opinion. I like the 78's with the round headlights. Unfortunately everyone else likes this year and the round headlights are rare. They get good money for this year!

Hey Spargo2
Nice to see a fellow Kentuckian on here. Your not that far away from me either. I live about 45 minutes north of you. Your friend has a really nice truck. I have friend that has a 79 F250 that he is slowly fixing up, and it really takes a lot of work and money to do it right. I personally have a 73 Bronco I would like to fix up but don't have the time or place to fix it.
Email me if you ever want to get together and have some sort of truck day or something.

Cool

Hey Eph, check out my best friends '78. It's running a 460 @ about 600 hp, a C6 tranny and down to 33's (soon tobe 35" Boggers) It was bought by his father in 1980 and my buddy got about 1990. He used it to mud race with in county fairs here in KY until he let his girl friend race it one night and flipped it!!! Oh well, after 6 months of hard work and restoration we got it back together.

Also check out my friends 72 highboy:
