Miles on your Trucks
1997 F-150 XL RC 4.6 auto, 8' bed, cloth bench seat and rubber mats.
I have replaced heater core, timing chain (went ahead and had water pump replaced while we were in there) radiator (it split wide open - wasn't the trucks fault) and a/c compressor. Otherwise only battery, brake pads, shoes, rotors, fluids, filters, and tires.
Front suspension still just fine, is tight and has only needed alignment once, otherwise just have alignment and ball joints checked periodically. Never any funky wear on tires like some Ford trucks I have owned.
We use it as a work truck and tow a trailer with it almost every day.
218,000 miles and still runs and drives like it did when it only had 50K miles. Uses more oil than I like as it smokes at first daily start up (probably valve guides), but does not leak or drip any fluids at all. Still gets good mileage.
As much as I depend on it, I know that a motor or tranny failure are only just a matter of time (not if, but when), and I don't especially want it to be my primary truck when that happens. Don't want to have to put $7K worth of motor and tranny into a truck that will be worth $2-3K before and after...
I don't want for something big to fail while I am out on the road with a bed and trailer full of expensive equipment, so I have been looking at new trucks for several months, just waiting to find the right truck at the right price.
I keep waffling between RC, SCab, and CC so I don't know for sure WHAT I will end up with, but I can assure you that it WILL be another F-150.

115,365 on my 1999. I've had it for 2 years, a month and a half, put over 33,000 miles on it, AND it's sat for about two months total over that time span. It should have no less than 200K on it when I buy a Super Duty.
I just hit 170,000 miles this weekend, and have had my truck since it was new. I've had to replace the alternator and blender door (and went and ahead and replaced the heater core while we were there.) Aside from that, my truck has been flawless, and still looks, runs, and gets the same milage as it did when it was new. It has never leaked a drop of any fluids whatsoever. I couldn't have hoped for any better when I bought it new.
I might have already replied here.....97 Reg cab Flareside 5.4L 4X4. It currently has almost 218,000 miles on it. Runs smooth as silk, doesn't smoke or burn oil. Unfortunately, I don't drive it much anymore. About once or twice a month I take it out to keep the seals lubed. It still looks like new. My wife wants me to sell it, but there is nothing wrong with it. My daily driver is a 2006 Trailblazer SS. It has 25,000 miles on it now. I have only put about 5000 miles on it in the last year, I know it will easily make it to 300,000 miles and still look good.
