Question

How well prepared are you talking? For a basic kit, I would carry bandaids, 4x4's, gauze, alcohol swabs, peroxide, an antibiotic ointment, ace bandage, a ruler (can be used as a splint), scissors, ammonia capsules, & a blanket. Mind you - I'm going from memory when I was a certified EMT & carried a more extensive trauma kit.
A good place to check out would be the Red Cross or a local rescue squad.. They may even have some sheets with basic first aid instructions for you. I'd check into a First Responder course - that's very basic & something everyone should know. I don't know if it includes CPR - if not that's a great course to take too.
I applaud you for wanting to be prepared. Just be sure you know what you're using & how to use it. One last thing - NEVER give a person anything like apsirin or Tylenol if possible. It could cause problems if they end up in the ER & are given other meds. This is just my suggestion. Hope it helped.

wall mart has them . thats where my 1st aid kit came from. Unfortunately my 3 yr oold discovered it had band aids,so they are all used up. (a band ide always fixes the ouwies). It also came with a chemical ice pack. Gave that to an elderly woman who had sprained or broken her ankle hiking a trail in the woods. her husband already called the ranger station. It comes with a good # of things. These are a must have for anyone who spends time in the woods.
