Great UFC Fights tonight, huh ?

It's about stinking time ! After the last two PPV fights, I was really starting to lose interest.

But tonights fights really turned it around for me.

I know a lot of guys don't like Matt Serra, but I think he's a damn tough dude, who put up a very good fight.... which I believe was closer than the refs called it.... but yea', Hughes deserved it.

Now, Rashad Evans is definately a great fighter...... but has at times been too ****y (doh ! okay.... uhhh.... roostery ? ) for me to like. Well, he wasn't too ****y tonight, after Machida beat the living $#!+ out of him, was he ? Man that was great ;-) I mean, anybody can get hit with one lucky punch..... but what did he catch... about 8 of them ? Dudes got a tough chin though !

Anyway, I just feel like we got our monies worth tonight :-)
I guarantee you Dana is happy !

I was worried when Hughes walked in the ring like he just crawled out of bed. I can't stand Serra,,what is it with all new york billy badasses and their attitudes. Thought there would be more blood, but Hughe's definitely won.

Machida whooped the living stink out of Evans. Great fight.

Party at my house on 7-7 for the Uriah fight!!!!! Can't wait!!!

Lose interest? Hell, I've never had interest in watching 2 goons beat the tar out of people for no reason, much less pay for it via PPV. UFC is a joke.

I'd rather watch a fight that occurs naturally during the competitiveness of a real sport.

Please, fighting has no place in hockey. What's that old joke? I went to the fights the other night and a hockey game broke out!

It's become an accepted part of the sport but really has no place in it. As for the "competitiveness of a real sport" part, those goons are brought onto the team for the sole purpose of going out there and causing trouble, that's it. The majority have no real skill, all they know how to do is fight. Some aren't even good at that.

Put one of those goons in a UFC ring with a real fighter that's dedicated his life to MMA and that goon would be killed.

I totally DESPISE Hockey, Baseball, Football, Basketball, etc, etc, etc. Total waste of time to watch guys hit, kick, or throw a ball around. Might not be bad if > I < was the one actually doing it, and getting paid fat for it.

I'm not much into boxing either. Too one dimensional.

Anyway, I thought we had more UFC fans here ?

PS, Hey Stealth, your not one of those guys who are mistaking "real" mixed martial arts for the totally lame / bogus / acted out, WWE wrestling are you ? Now that crap is rediculous. I used to trip when they would put that crap on right before or after UFC's, on the same channel ! I always wondered, who in the heck would watch, and get into both of these programs ?

PPS, Their is only one sport worth "doing", and that's fishing.... And then their is only one worth "watching" {which I am smart enough not to try myself} and that is Mixed Martial Arts ;-)
Well racing is okay too.....

We aren't talking WWE, we're talking UFC. Both are a joke to me.

As for fishing being a sport, it is. It's one of the many sports I excell at. I can pretty much master any game or sport, but goons getting paid for fighting is a complete joke and an utter waste of a life.

This is my disclaimer: it's all about opinion, and that's mine.

Fighting is an important part of the coolest game on earth; that being hockey.

It adds excitement, and it's needed. There are plenty of tough guys on the ice that can not only fight, but can also play the game.
I'm going to use Wendel Clark as an example because he was one of my all time favorites. His role with the Leafs during the Ballard (team owner) era unfortunately was just to fight. That was what Ballard wanted. The club didn't give Clark a chance play and utilize his other on ice skills. I for one would not want to tangle with Cklark on or off the ice. He could do it all, and man did he ever, with his measely 5'10" frame.
That being said, when the Ballard era ended and the new Leafs owners let Clark do "other" things on the ice, he was simply an amazing all around player that could do it all!

Hockey is a tough physical sport, and this is why I believe fighting is a necessity. Enforcers are needed to help protect those less tough (and sometimes smaller) players, and of course to protect the all important goaltender in front of the net.
Without "somebody there to remind you to watch out", hockey just wouldn't have that element of intrigue. This is why people love the game.

As for UFC, I've only recently gotten into it, and I do enjoy watching it. These guys are amazing athletes and what they do is more like an art.
I didn't see the fights on PPV the other night though, although I would've liked to.

I have to say that UFC fighting is a sport and what those people do to get themselves into UFC is enough said. I have been training the last couple years doing Jui Jitsu and Muy Tai fighting and I fight with alot of MMA fighters who will see UFC matches very soon. What these people put themselves through is incredible and they are some tough guys so you have to have respect for competitive fighting. As fighting in hockey, Im all for it there is nothing like watching a great hockey game then you get a little break and get to watch two lumberjack looking dudes try to beat each other up. It is comical to watch them as they have no skill what so ever

What would be even more hysterical would be a UFC fighter trying to fight a hockey tough guy on skates. No skill my azz

Well those guys spend all day everyday on skates and they still cant fight worth crap against each other, I played hockey back in high school and know that being on skates doesnt make much of a differance when your dancing around a four foot radius trying to grab a guy. Now put a hockey player in a cage and he is done is a second I would guarantee it.

You honestly can't be serious. If your saying fighting on skates isn't much different than fighting on foot then your lying when you say you've played hockey. I've played hockey for 17 of my 24 years, and I'm just going to say your lying.

There really isn't anymore "goons" per say in the NHL. Most of these people you label that contribute a decent amount of points for the team as well. A "goon" was someone who was paid to fight (kind of a lost aspect when the European style came over here because teams cannot afford (in a winning sense) to pay some guy who just fights). They need to fill that spot with someone who can produce.
