Need advice on truck im poss buying

New guy here wanting to get some good advice & some ford knowledge. Im in the process of buying a 2006 f150 xlt extended cab 4x4 5.4l 6.5ft bed pickup with a manufacturing date on door of 3/06. I used to be a mechanic but not close to being ase certified or a ford expert. This truck has 36,000 miles & has basically every option except leather & is in excellent shape. The only thing i can see that it needs is front pads & there is a small leak where the driveshaft connects to the rear diff. I did a carfax report & truck is clean. The report also shows the services performed by the dealer before it was sold to my friend & mentioned that the catalytic converter was replaced at 22,000 & one of the fuel injectors along with spark plugs soon after. Has anyone heard of this happening & were they possibly just bum parts. Through the research ive done so far on this model, it seems to be an excellent truck & there are no known recalls. Im purchasing it for $14,000 & basically wanted to know if this is a steel & if theres anything i should know about this model. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

The biggest problem is going to be when you decide to change the spark plugs. It's a major issue, the 2 piece plugs like to break and stick in the heads.

If it's an early 06, I can see where there may be fuel injector issues - the 05's had a problem with leaky injectors. There is an extended warranty on those if your build date is covered.

I say good deal on it. I basically have the same truck only with the FX4 package, not XLT. Like glc mentioned biggest problem will be spark plugs.

I bought mine with 48k in February and now have 53k and havent had any issues with the truck other than the cheap tires the dealer put on but I replaced them and the vibration went away.

With only 36k I dont think you have much to worry about.

since the truck date on the door is 3/06 im worried that the bad injector problems from the 05,s is passed on to this truck. anybody know an approximate cost to replace all the injectors for piece of mind & also if covered under the extended injector warranty, would they replace all or just each one as they fail.

As I said in your new thread, you should take this over to either the 2004+ or the V-8 Engines forum.

3/06 seems like it would be a later build since the '06's went on sale in mid '05.

Check the floors for leaks. Pull up the door sill covers and look for wetness in the wire channels. It's pretty common.

Water sitting on the floor will result in rust if you let it go for a few years.
