Motherf@cking Dealership!
Today was supposed to be the day. The day that I have been sitting one edge all week for. The day when my beloved Lightning was supposed to be ready for me to come just pick up and drive away with.
I do the 1 hour, 15 minute drive there in like 37 minutes. I'm excited as Hell.
I roll into the lot and bounce outta the truck. "Gimme my Lightning!" I joke.
"Lightning? What Lightning?" this bulbous bag of gelatinous fat says rather slowly.
"The Lightning I bought. Yanno......the white one?" I said, getting that ice cold clammy feeling in my tummy that tells me something is so horribly wrong.
"Oh, well we had a white one. It got picked up this morning. Nice lady." This veritble bank of superhuman genius tells me.
Turns out the rat bastards SOLD my truck to someone else this morning. F@CKING SOLD IT!!!!!!!!
They tell me they have a red one in stock. I don't want to drive what looks like a used Tampax, thank you (I hate the color red). ALL my vehicles are white.....I want a white one. That's what I ordered and that's what I paid the full 38,500 sticker price for. A white one. A beautiful, clear coat Oxford White Lightning with GT40 style racing stripes and base lettering.
They tried to tell me that they could get a white one from another dealership but it wouldn't be until Monday until they knew for sure and blah blah blah blah.
I demanded the manager give me my money back. I wasn't going to accept another color and I wasn't going to wait for them to fix their **** up. I've waited 3 weeks, thank you, and I don't want to wait anymore.
It ends up with me telling the manager that he gives me my money back, right now, or Monday I'll be more than happy to have the family attorney file a lawsuit for breach of contract (As it was a signed, done deal) as well as theft. Whether I win or lose is irrelevant. I will cost you more than what that truck is worth in legal fees.
He goes inside and they come back out....WITH MY ORIGINAL CHECK. Hand it to me and I left, smoking the tires all the way down the boulevard I was so pissed.
At this point.....I'm about ready to forget about a Lightning and go buy a 49 Mercury and rod it out to the nines. There's a guy that my old man knows that has one that is mostly restored.
I congratulate all of those that have theirs. Hope you enjoy yours to the fullest.
I'll be the guy in the obsidian Merc that just blew by you with the blown 460.

Silmular story about a Dodge Viper. Only the Dealers owners son sold it before they even knew if they would be one of the lucky dealers to get one.
They DID get one but because of the hype surrounding it, it was now worth 60K which was almost double what the suggested list price was going to be at the time the guy put a deposit on it.
Now the dealer doesn't want to let it go for the 30somethingK when all the other dealers are getting the BIG dollars for theirs, and besides they might just keep it, because who knows if and when they will get another one. The dealer tried to give the deposit back. They still had the original check, which they returned to the buyer. The buyer reminded them of their contract and sent the deposit back.
Bottom line:
The Judge made that dealer sell him that car, and at the agreed upon price.

Give us their e-mail address! I'm sure we can make the dealer wish he was never born!! What a complete bunch of BS.

A few hours later and several degrees much cooler and more rational, I've definetly decided to do the Merc, instead.
I talked to my father (who also happens to be one of my best friends) and said he'd be more than happy to do this as a father/son project. That sort of sold me on the idea right there.
98:
I don't want the 330/5.4. I want a 460. If you're going to go for power.....go for REAL power. I am sure that more horsepower could easily be squeezed out of the 5.4 but not nearly as much nor as easily as out of the 460.
We've definetly decided to slam the 4-9 (as we're calling it now) and plant a blown 460 under the hood. Definetly going for a C-6 tranny in it, cause I don't like to shift when just cruising.
Thanks for letting me rant. I was all worked up about getting one and, after some other problems with even ORDERING it, this was the last straw. Sometimes it's better to walk away and wonder what might have been then press on and get in to a whole heap o' trouble.

The 460 crate motors from Ford are worth checking out. Lots of nice new parts for the change.

Now there is a hell of a situation to be in. "Do I rod out a 49 Merc or do I hold out for a white Lightning".
I say do both things twice!
Sorry to hear about that dealer experience. sounds as if you are "coping" rather well.

Why don't you E-Mail Ford and tell them what happened to you. Why you are not buying now, and the dealer's name. Any problems with dealers and they seem to get on them pretty quick. I'm sure they would like to know why they lost a sale. Maybe the next person will get what he/she ordered.
Thad,
I did call the SVT hotline as soon as I got home and they took down all the information I gave them.
They wanted to know if I would possibly take delivery of another one from a different dealer and I politely declined.
While I am a Ford enthusiast, I've had problems with the dealerships with last three vehicles I've purchased. Most seem rather clueless as to what Ford is saying/promoting versus what they want to do.

They are clueless, or just act that way as they are good liars as we all know. I'm enjoying that fact that Ford and other manufacters are buying privately held dealers and making them company shops. It holds them a little accountable as there is no excuse for them not knowing something because of communication problems between FoMoCo and the used cars sales manager that managed to work at the dealer for longer than 6 weeks which made him general manager by default.

I bet that lady paid them a premium for your truck and they took the cash and figured it was worth the risk of pi$$ing you off.
I think you should have told them to sell you one at invoice or you go to FoMoCo, your lawyer, and the BBB AND charge them for your time and mileage.
I'm amazed that they didn't deposit your check.

From what I gathered, they are not allowed to legally deposit the check until you take delivery of the vehicle. The two previous times I bought vehicles cash, they held the check until I picked up delivery and then deposited it.
As far as the hassle.....I'd love to stick it to them but the hassle of dealing with the original hassle isn't worth it at the moment.
Not when trying to move out of this hellhole and back to Texas whilst starting a new job.
