I had the flush job done at jiffy lube ( a good one) and it cost me around 60.00 to do. I told them to put in mercon v (5). although it is a 1997 I have put on 20,000 worry free miles with the mercon v semi synthetic tranny oil.No filter change when you do a flush. I did this at 37,000 miles. At 50,000 miles I went to a dealership and told them to change the filter ( because I have read ford tranny filters are better on this site) and replace the 5 or so quarts it took to this. I told the dealership I had put in the mercon v and they recomended and encourged this. That cost me 149.00 dollars.
To answer your question- depending the miles you have on your truck and how you abuse it. I would follow the steps I did with the transmission.
I have read also on this site that after the first tranny oil change, now you don't have to change the tranny oil now for another 60,000 miles ( it will last that long with mercon v (5))
