Chrysler's Nagging Quality Issues
Chrysler's Nagging Quality Issues
from today's WSJ.
In announcing Chrysler LLC's government-negotiated bankruptcy filing, President Obama expressed the hope that new-car seekers would consider buying American. But new car buyers are less accustomed to seeking advice from the president than from Consumer Reports. In its annual automotive issue last month, Consumer Reports recommended 166 models -- not one of them a Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep, the three Chrysler nameplates.
'The harsh ride, noise, poor driving position, and lack of creature comforts take their toll on the driver,' says Consumer Reports about the Viper.
"Their products had bad fuel economy, noisy interiors, poor ride quality, the worst finish in the industry and their seat comfort is not good," says David Champion, director of automotive testing for Consumer Reports, a nonprofit product-analysis publisher that has seven million subscribers. On reliability, Mr. Champion added, only two Chrysler models scored above average: the Dodge Caliber and Jeep Patriot.
A reputation for poor quality continues to plague all three U.S.-based auto makers -- Chrysler, Ford Motor Co. and General Motors Corp. But while Ford and GM are largely battling outdated perceptions of questionable reliability, "at Chrysler it's a reality," says George Peterson, president of AutoPacific Inc., which each year surveys about 40,000 car owners. "To survive, Chrysler needs to get its quality at least to the level of Ford and GM."

And you're renewing your quest of being an idiot. Dodge's quality is the worst and this is proof of it.
Ford owners are not the only ones who post or read here. But it's good info for EVERYONE to know and this is the GENERAL discussion board by the way. Don't like the topic, don't respond to it. Want to stay closed minded, don't read it.
This is why when people think of US auto manufactures, they think Ford and Chevy first and Dodge last. The only thing Dodge has ever had that's worth mentioning is the HEMI V8 and the Viper. The Viper is easily out performed by nearly every other sports car on the market, and the HEMI is outdated with a transmission that can't hold it. Dodge is going down for good soon.
The current Hemi is not even a true Hemi (hemispherical combustion chambers), it's just a trademarked name Chrysler brought back to life to sell vehicles.

The mid to late sixties Mopars had (IMHO) the best looking cars on the road.

I never did like the way any Mopar looked, dare I say not even the General Lee.
They have good lines and nice curves, yeah, but their quality has always been pretty much subpar. Obviously, that trend continues today.

What does that have to do with anything, looks are subjective and weren't even brought up. Having far more quality issues than any other brand and requiring taxpayer money to stay afloat and now filling for bankruptcy are not subjective.

If it strikes my fancy to reply to a topic, I will. Don't like what I have to say, add me to your ignore list.
BANG BANG go get the bird........................
