i went back and forth on the looks of the flex and finally decided that its to ugly to be seen in. must be the feelings of a lot of people cause i hardly see any except on the dealers lots. and ford wonders why they are having a tough time. might be a practical vehicle but looks do count.

If you don't like the Flex, wait for the 2010 Taurus which will be all new....or the 2010 Edge remodel......or the new Ford Explorer...the new Fusion...or a new Fiesta...new Focus (already mentioned)....a new white space? vehicle....a new Mustang....and the new Super Duty....there are a lot of nice vehicles coming out in 2010-11.

The only thing missing from that equation is a new Ranger. Granted, they are adding side impact airbags to the 2010 models, and there's even rumors about a redesigned front facsia for the last couple of model years........

there was something about the new Ranger on the front page of pickuptrucks.com yesterday. Is this what's coming here?

Right-hand drive with a Mazda logo? Hmmm...

But, to be back on topic, I personally *love* the new Flex and would actually consider owning one myself but, as has been said, the price point is hellishly harsh.

I thought they were killing off the Ranger.

It seems to me that the baby trucks dont really sell all that well around here anymore.

One local Ford dealer doesnt have a single Ranger on the lot. They havent had one in quite some time.

It says this in the article Rambo posted.

Photographed T6 (Ranger) test trucks are configured in both left- and right-hand drive versions and are longer and wider than the current overseas Ranger. The mules are powered by diesel and gas engines. An industry source says the T6 Ranger for the U.S. will likely be powered by a new 1.6-liter four-cylinder direct injection turbocharged EcoBoost engine producing at least 175 horsepower and 180 pounds-feet of torque. Ford's 3.0-liter Duratorq TDCi four-cylinder turbodiesel engine, rated at 154 horsepower and 280 pounds-feet of torque, is expected to be carried over in the new truck for buyers outside the U.S.

Well I almost traded. In the bu. The damn flex had some issues and they were not giving me what I wanted to get. They almost sold the thing but would work with me and they had room to. Oh well

I assume where you said "would" you meant "would not". If so, that's precisely how we ended up with a BMW...

Anyone who's bought more than one car knows it's harder to get financed on used cars than on new ones (higher interest rates, and down payments are almost always required, and no rebated/incentives). We got a used car at a far lower interest rate than we allegedly got through Rodeo.

Rodeo Ford tried to slick us, and we weren't having it. There was (and 2 months later, still is) a 2008 Burgundy and tan Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer sitting on their lot- near the front door. It's a demo (about 3,00 miles on it), and they were taking $7,000 off MSRP.

Well, I have X-Plan through my job, so I get Ford vehicles at a set cost, minus any available dealer/Ford incentives. The MSRP is +/- $35K, and taking off the $7K, that put the truck to $28K. However, that is not my negotiating point. My negotiation point starts at the pre-arranged cost (which is usually < $1,000 over invoice...

They would not let me see the invoice. So, I looked on the internet, and found the invoice for said vehicle was $28,000. Adding my $1,000 estimate to that ($29,000), then deducting the $7,000 in incentives, that truck should have cost us $22,000 +/-. Plus, there would be no negative equity because we weren't trading in the truck to add $6,000 to the financing. You'd think that would have made thing better, but it actually got worse once we took away the trade. We shoudl have been able to get this vehicle at $22,000.

The negotiation started at $750 a month for 60 months and my wife was fed when they started the "4-squares" and running back & forth to magenment game. By the time they got down to $625, and left. I wasn't with her that day. Two days later, they called me at $550. Problem is, per my calculations, we shouldn't have been paying any more than $450/month for that truck- and had they come to a arms length of that payment, we'd have gotten the truck. They hemmed/hawed, explained why they were trying to screw us, and everything...

So, we parted ways with Rodeo, and days later, we picked up a used BMW, lease returning the F-150 to Ford, and it's on its way to auction by now.

I sure miss Middlekauf Ford, and Peter Panopolis. That was a good team. I thought Rodeo Ford was nice- looking at the ads on TV, but having gone- it feels very much like the Trophy Nissan experience (fast talking, David Copperfield, don't look at this hand, look at this hand, crap)- but worse.

In our lease return packet, Ford had sent us a letter saying we were pre-approved for any new Ford vehicle up to $48,000... That letter meant nothing at the dealership.

So, with that kind of customer service- if Ford is losing sales, dealerships like that is probably why.

ok so i went back but to a different salesman (called the sales guy that sold me my truck, he had moved to Co but made a few calls for me) and was rewarded with +2500$ on the trade and actually upgraded to a limited (got invoice -1000$ plus another $4000 in rebates) that is the most loaded vehicle i have ever driven. the wife loves it, i am happy that she is happy so all is well. yeah i ate a couple G's on the trade but i was happy to get out of a company in troubled times and into an all ford family. the kids love the separate DVD's (you cant put a price on silence) and i am sure i will during our road trip this year. oh and the SYNC/Nav combo is unreal!!! enough about the van/wagon/suv thing i just bought, this is a truck site afterall
