Manny being Manny...

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,519343,00.html

Manny Ramirez will be suspended for 50 games beginning today after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs, the Los Angeles Times reports.

What a dope. I have no sympathy for these goons.

Saw that this morning. I was at the game last night, had no idea it would be his last game for a while

Damn shame, altho we shouldn't see too much of a drop off in production, we have a lot of good hitters on the team. but then again, maybe it was Manny's presence in the line up. we'll see.

You benefit from a weak division. Plain and blunt as i can can put it. Although you do have a pretty good young team! Matt Kemp will be a household name before too long. Raffy has kinda slipped since going there but still a great fielder. Looney is pretty young as well, he reminds me of a derek lee.

Saint Louie is where it's at ya'll! They're putting together a decent little year so far. Just if Carp could stay healthy and Ankiel could hit something besides the wall! haha that was a great catch. I miss the days where Edmonds was still producing and making catches like that look a lot crisper on nightly basis. Either way it looks like the Cards and Dodgers will meet in the playoffs. Really early to call it, specially for the cards. Brewers and Cubs in our division still with pretty good ball clubs.

So he was perscribed a medication by a doctor for a personal health issue? Is that something like Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction? I just think he's got an STD and is scared to admit it....so what is it manny....roids or gonorrhea?

The Los Angeles Dodgers star said he did not take steroids and was given medication by a doctor that contained a banned substance.

A person familiar with the details of the suspension said Ramirez used HCG, human chorionic gonadotropin, which is prescribed to stimulate female fertility and testosterone production in men and to treat delayed puberty in boys. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the banned substance wasn't announced.
"It's not infrequently part of the mix of the poly-drug approach to doping," said Dr. Gary Wadler, chairman of the committee that determines the banned-substances list for the World Anti-Doping Agency. "It typically is used most when people are coming off a cycle to restore to normal biophysiological feedback mechanisms."
It sounds like this is a drug used to help get your testosterone level back to where they should be AFTER you have taken roids.

Either way. He should have know to check the drug out before he took it. Since he's not appealing in any way it sounds to me like he's ok with this punishment.

In Manny's defense. Roids does not make a player. I've never tested with roids or anything, but you still have to put in the time and effort in it takes to make it to that level. I'm pretty sure if i were to take roids last year it wouldn't have made me a D1 player this year. You gotta have talent. And you gotta put the time in. Not saying i didn't have talent, or didnt put the time in. That being said i'm totally against steriods. oh well.

I guess many won't be making a diving catch to cut off a throw from the center fielder anytime soon.
