Question Loaner for after-purchase body work agreement?

Hi,

Purchased a SuperCrew last week. As part of the deal, I requested that they change out the current grill and paint the chrome mirrors. I was told today that they will need the vehicle for three days once the new grill arrives! I asked for a loaner but was told they don't provide them. I need a vehicle for work... should I demand a car for this period or am I S'Crewed? The best they'll do at this point is set me up with a fleet rental rate of $39.99 a day (from local rental agency). That's $120.00! What should I do?

Thanks

One thing I wouldn't do is use their rental! I'm willing to bet you could find a cheaper rate by calling around! Do you have AAA? They give discounts on rentals - up here it's Hertz!
I'd keep insisting though - or when the grill arrives, tell them you can't drop the truck off till you find transportation & make them sit on it a few days. That might help them find a loaner. I'd also try to arrange it so the work is done during your days off so you don't lose alot of time if all other measures fail! Good luck!

You must have really raked the dealer over the coals when you made the deal. I can't imagine a dealer not covering the rental, otherwise.

I know when my Screw was in the body shop(3 times) we got a loaner car on them. But remember you are having work other than defect repair work done so you might be out some cash for a car. My Screw goes back again April 9th and you bet your a$$ they are paying for my car. By the way which grill do you have now and what are you switching to?

Dennis,

Yeah I think I did... when I talked to the sales manager again and reminded him who I was, he said "oh yeah, you're the guy who chiseled us over price". I was offended at first but let it go... they still made $100 over invoice plus whatever holdbacks were available.

'01Screw'00Flareside,

I'm having them replace the chrome surround type grill with the newer color-keyed design w/honeycomb mesh center... plus they're painting the chrome mirrors black to match the black window trim... very nice in my opinion!

I see, your just having the Lariat grille put in. At first my Wife was not to hot on the chrome grille in Her truck, until I bought the Lund Stainless Steel insert for it. My Flareside has the color keyed grille on it. I like it much better than the chrome one. Enjoy!
