WOW!! Nascar wreck
While that crash was bad, it does not hold a candle to Bobby Allison in 87 where took out a whole good 20ft or so I would say of the fencing, now that would be scary.

Yea I can imagine with all the crap flinging around hopefully no-one seriously injured though. Can you imagine if they do double the size of the wall and double reinforce the fence, move the spectators another 100' back or like in hockey a wall of glass (whoa wait a minute) all in the name of saftey. I'm all for keeping spectators safe but don't take away from the sport. I remeber being in the parking grass area at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis Texas back around 90 during one of the big nationals and a blower from one of the funny cars landed right in front of my truck but before the metal cooled off there were three fights going on while a couple other guys grabbed it and took off. Anyway the wife has been fed and she has me watching another train wreak the Celebrity Apprentice. Baby since you is up bring me a beer oh make that 2.
x2 the safer barrier and fence material technology was improved due to lessons learned from 87 and after. Look at the implementation of the hans restraint since Earnharts death. It's highly unlikely Matt'y boy would have crawled out and walked away from flippin like that if it were to happen in 87 either.
Agreed. This was worse. Just watch the slow-mo replays and see the way Edwards' car just bounced off..
I was reading on another forum and a guy said that with the COT that the wing on the back is bad because it creates lift when the car is going backwards. That is what sent Edwards on the ride of his life.
if Nascar doesn't do something, they are going to kill someone.
crazy couple of days ..
and ESPN/ABC was full of crap for putting the camera on Matt's wife while he was still in a burning car .. what a crock of crap that was. Zero class.

NASCAR needs to rethink this double yellow "out of bounds" deal. if that rule wasn't in effect that wreck never would have happened and there would have a been a finish for the ages with only inches deciding it. same thing last year was avoided but the rule was broken and the first car across the line wasn't the winner. i'm glad no on was seriously injured. all in all it was a wild race.
there are a couple of people in a hospital in alabama with broken facial bones that would take exception to that comment ..
at least none of the injuries are life threatening..

According to the president of the Talladega, there was one person with a broken jaw and one with an unnamed medical condition. They were both airlifted to Birmingham due to the traffic. Other than that everyone is fine.
I was there for this one

I was on duty all weekend I had forgot all about the race. Got into my 25 cent wing night diner, just happened to be looking into the bar and seen what looked to be a hell of a wreck at the race.
Got home and googled it sure enough looks like it was a wild one. Now can I be stupid for a minute who is Matt? Someone said above matt'y am I being silly I am dealing with a sinus infection lol. Well just wonderin! Rubbin is racin!

The fan off Edward's car ended up about 3 rows and 5-10 seats down from me. A state trooper that was standing down by the fence picked it up and brought it up to the guy that got hit by it.
