Are Charity Requests Going Too Far?

I don't know how it is where you guys live, but over here it's getting bad.

Wifey & I just left Costco and at the cash as we're paying the bill, the cashier asks "Sir would you like to buy a star and donate $2 to help send a kid to camp?"
"No Thanks" I reply.

Next stop is Wal-Mart for a few items, same thing happens again:
"Sir would you like to donate 2 bucks to the children's miracle network?
Nope, but thanks anyway. then it's off to Canadian Tire (big box store), same thing again
"Sir, care to make a $2 donation?"
Um, no I would not.

Then on the way out of Canadian Tire, they've got the charity people accosting you on the way out to buy tickets for their raffle.
Then you finally get outside through the 2nd set of doors, and you've got the cub scouts "Sir, want to buy a chocolate bar?"

No, how about all you people just f--- right off already and leave me alone! (that's what I'm screaming inside my head, lol)

Does this go on where you live?
Personally I bugs the chit out of me and I think these business have crossed the line with allowing these tactics to take place.
Why TF do I have to feel like a horses *** by saying no? You have everyone behind you in the line, everyone can hear you, and it makes you look like a stingy *****.
I give to my chosen charities each year, so does my wife.

Between the aggressive charity requests, the tip jars on every corner, and the panhandlers on the streets, it's enough to make a guy snap.

I wouldn't mind so much if they had a collection bowl at the cash or whatever, that's fine, but don't frikkin ask me to make a donation.

It makes me not want to shop at those places anymore.

End of rant ~ I feel better now.

I hear ya. They are all over the place around here also. I guess I don't mind the charities as much as I do the guy in the john who expects you to tip him for handing you a towel after you take a wizz. I can't stand that. That's what really irks me. I think I can handle going to the bathroom by myself. And they get pissed when you don't tip them. For what? Go find a real job and let me worry about my own hygiene

Hey bro,
what bathrooms are you visiting? Holy crap, lmao.
A bathroom with an attendant? That's high class
I'd love to visit a chitter like that. If a guy can sit his *** in a bathroom all day, he deserves a buck

I saw that once in Atlantic City, thought it was neat.

Several years ago when I was in South America, the guy in the washroom was selling toilet paper. There was none in the stalls.

couple hundred paso's for several feet. That is like 50 cents.

The bathroom attendants are there to keep the bathroom clean. They're not asking for tips for handing you a towel. It is weird though. I usually only see them at car shows, fairs and boardwalks. If I can go in the bathroom without walking through puddles of **** and it's pretty clean I'll tip the guy a buck or so.

Whether or not I donate depends on the cause. Every month or so I run into this. Except the pet store I go to but I like how they do it and I always donate for animals. The pet store has it built in to the credit/debit card key pad. It ust pops up and asks if you would like to donate a dollar: Yes or No? Then it just adds it to your total. Sometimes the cashier will say thank you. Most of the time they don't say anything.

We go through stages with it. We had a group last year collecting money for their church at the intersection of two state roads. One of our officers told them this was illegal and told them to move on. A few minutes later, they were at it again. He arrested them and guess what? They just reached into the "collection jar" and pulled out a couple hundred bucks and posted a cash bond and then left town. No you tell me, do you think these were legit? Why would members of a church in Detroit Michigan be in Cairo Ga (population 10k) collecting money for their church. It really pisses me off to see someone use religion to run a scam!

I saw a story on this a few years ago through our local FOX News affiliate. I think the reverend had a private jet if I'm not mistaken, unless it was a different "charity" .
