I'm finally getting hitched!!!!!!!!!
Well my girlfriend and I are getting married on april 25. I love her to death and the relationship has been greater than I could ask for. just sharing my happiness with my e-buddies. My brother took me to a shooting range as part of the bachelor party and the first gun I ever shot was a Ruger 357 magnum with a 6 inch barrel. That thing rocked!! We also shot a .40 Glock but I wasnt really impressed. I welcome any advice you guys might have for me as a newlywed and I think the shooting bug bit me too. Any suggestions on my first handgun??

Congrats! Wife and I got married the day before I left for a 6 month deployment then two months later she left for a 4 month one so needless to say we haven't spent much time together but are making a jackload of money. As a former "man whore" that has been around the world 3 times and lived in Japan for 2yrs (I love Japanese women!) my best advice is, if she's not happy you're not going to be happy. Don't mistake that for doing everything she wants cause that's not the case. If you provide most women the basics like a place to sleep, shower, not being a jerk etc... and they're relatively nice then you're good to go. Wife and I just rented a apartment that over looks the Chesapeake Bay and has a 20ft covered patio, well my wife loves the water and loves reading outside so guess who just killed two birds with one stone. Handgun I would start out with is a 9mm, won't kill a bull but you will learn the basics and has enough kick to teach you to respect the gun and how to control it. Beretta is standard issue Air Force I would look at the Glock 17/19 as well.

Congrats on the marriage! If your happy with the .357. Stick with it.

Congrats!
As far as handgun, if you are wanting to shoot often, get a 9mm, anything else will break you in ammo. My first was a Glock 19 and I love it, but just go to a gun shop and hold different makes and see which you like in your hand better |

Congrats man!! I just tied the knot Nov 1st. Hopefully y'all lived together first. If not, be prepared to learn a whole bunch of stuff about her that yu never knew!
As far as the gun goes, I picked up my first pistol a few weeks ago, a springfild XDm 9mm. I LOVE it! Look into it, do some research and you won't go wrong. Best of luck!! -NCSU |
OK...on the marriage, COOL! Good Luck.
Now, for the advice.... In marriage, the less you expect, the happier you will be. As for hand guns...I was really not that into them, until I got to to shoot a cops Glock 10mm. My first shot...it was like OMG! Unleashed horsepower! I bought it right away, along with the 5 15 round clips that came with it. I wouldn't want anything less in the night stand, and, speaking about my third wife, I wouldn't trade her for anything past, present or future. Did that help? :-) |
