Yeah, on paper the C3 is one bad-assed truck. I don't like the styling of it myself, and of course I have a huge problem with the build quality of that brand 'o trucks. However, it goes to show that the competition in the light duty truck market is red hot, with manufacturers constantly trying to outdo each other, and some entering the market for the first time with VERY worthy competition -- Toyota recently and Nissan in maybe two or three years. Hell, maybe even VW -- don't laugh, they have some hellatious 12 cylinder engines (an ingenious "W-12" configuration) being developed that could womp some tail.

I hope Ford is looking at what our expectations as truck buyers will be in the coming years, and is working hard on meeting and exceeding them. In the present time, Ford makes the best product. Doesn't take a lot of nerve to say that here in Ford country, however it's true!

I just hope that Ford doesn't start slacking off. The competition is getting fierce and if they want to stay in the game, they are going to have to make some more powerful V8's.

I totally agree. Ford's Triton V-8s are very good truck engines, however, the competition is winning over the automotive press with their more powerful drivetrains, and that does not bode well. They better be designing all-new powerplants that get better gas mileage, lower emissions, with smoother and more power. So even though the competition's truck has build quality so poor stuff starts failing off even during relatively short duration tests (check out edmunds.com for their long-term truck tests), their powerful drivetrains could be seducing potential Ford customers away. That would be too bad, and Ford would have ONLY itself to blame.

I personally cant wait to line up with one.

Remember all those Toyota Tundra commercials (no relation)? Man that was fun when I finally caught that third light with him. First light he was confident. At the scond light, since I let him win, he was laughing at me. Third light he was dragging his tailgate between his rear tires, since I finally put that import in its place. Atleast I didn't do it infront of his woman.

When are they do out?

The engine in the C3 makes max torque at 4000 RPM. The 5.4 makes max torque at 2500 and it's only 20 lb ft less.

In a recent Truckin' mag the C3 did 15.85 in the 1/4 mile..... I don't think the Lightning owners have any concerns.

displacement for displacement, GM lags behind Ford severely. You need to 6000 (6.0 ltr) from GM just to compete with the Triton 5.4..........It would be nice if Ford would up the C.I.'s on this motor and offer it as an option though.

Sure, WE know its no match for the Lightnings, but they think they have a chance.

Just like the toyota tundra driver I came across in my other reply.
