Lost one of my buddies today.

Jeb, my 12 year-old chocolate lab, was fine this morning. He was happy, ate breakfast, and was his normal self. This afternoon, he couldn't get up and refused to eat. His breathing was labored and he was in intense pain---he even had a hard time wagging his tail. He tried to go outside but fell down.

The vet took x-rays and he had a great deal of internal bleeding---from a tumor or his intestines. Surgery would have been too much for him.

We were there with him as he took his final breaths. I couldn't have ordered a more perfect dog... Jeb, I will think of you every day---see you at the bridge, big dog!

My sincerest condolences brother. My heart goes out to you. There are very few things in a mans life that are sadder than when he loses his dog. He looks like he was a big, beautiful lab. Any other pics?

When we got him, I named him after J.E.B. Stuart,; I had just come back from taking a three-day trip with my honors class to Gettysburg. He was always a gentleman---even when three other dogs came, he was gentle and accepted them. I cannot believe it--he was fine this morning and ate well---even took a few of my Cheerios---but he refused food tonight and would not give any puppy kisses or wags...

Ref, My sincere condolences. Jeb was a great looking guy and you gave him a great life! My wife has been at the Daughter's house since Thursday evening keeping company with the 6 year old Golden Retriever our Daughter adopted 4 weeks ago and her two cats, as our Daughter went to Galveston, Texas with her fiance to watch him do a Triathlon. I have been here looking after our dog and 3 cats. You and your family, like mine have changed the routine of our lives at times to take care of animals and our lives are richer for it! My thoughts are with you tonight as I truly feel your pain Brother, I truly feel your pain!

It's amazing how these four legged creatures can get into your life and your heart. I understand your loss. RIP Jeb.
My lab is getting on in age. I'm not sure of her age as she is a rescue dog. The vet says about 11 years old. Her name is Kora but I call her Mother. Just raise your voice and she is all over you to see whats wrong. I wouldn't trade her for anything. She loves Christmas and is worse than any of the kids about opening presents. Yeah, she gets her fair share every year.
Losing one of these friends is hard. I can only hope that you remember the great things about having them in your life. They come and go far too quick.
This is my Kora:

Sorry to hear about anyone losing an animal. I have a 4 y.o. black lab named Lexy. I also had to euthanize my 21 y.o. cat this last year. I was there when he took his last breaths, too. It was very hard, but I wasn't there for me, I was there for him. R.I.P. Jeb.
