Thumbs up

Karl, I don't know what we're going to do with you when you start wondering about 'color'.

Now, Boss96Hog said he saw new, power, 40/60 seats.

You can't get power seats with an XL (I don't think).
If you get a Lariat, the power is standard, you only pay for the Captains if you want them.

This leaves the XLT.
The Captains chairs are $417(invoice)
The Power Seat is $306 (invoice)
Here's what it says about the power seat:

"Includes automatic headlights. Requires automatic transmission WHEN ordered with captains chairs."

I was also surprised that the prices have not gone up since 1997!

I'm fairly open to color, just dont want a dark color, that's all. It's the wife who has been picky on color. Oh well.

Yep, looking at only xlt's and have not found one yet with the new split bench with power drivers. THat has only shown up on the supercrew.

Unhappy

wow, that throws my truck purchase plans a real curve. If that is true, then the only way you can get a power drivers is to get an upgraded seat package, either the capt chair or a lariat. bummer.

I have seen early 2k1 models with the old split bench with power drivers. Like I said, I have seen the new split bench with drivers power but in the supercrew only.

Karl, just be sure on the seats you want. I was surprised how important this decision really is. I have been moaning and groaning about my bad decision for 1.5 years. To the point that everyone is sick of hearing it. Test drive trucks with all of the different seats. Otherwise, you could be stuck with a real PITA.

The day I find and install some Dark Graphite captains chairs (impossible to find) is the day I will set my 40/60 on fire. I wouldn't even consider selling it at this point, I am just gonna burn it and throw the charred remains in the garbage.

seacrow:

Yes, I am being very picky on what I finally end up with. I did drive the older style 40/60 split bench about a year ago now, a full day, out and back to the site (an hour drive--one way). I didnt think too much of it, but it was far better than my jeep. Nice and tall in the back which is what I need (Im 6'2" with long torso). Not as supportive on the sides of the back as my jeep, I did feel that.

I did drive an expy for about a half-hour with cloth captains chairs and i did like those. You sit up a little higher in those, which gives a little more leg stretch room and a better foot angle. Nicer driving position.

I have got to take one oout with the new split bench, but, like I said, unless it is a supercrew, I dont think I will find one at this time with power drivers. I have sat in them and liked them, but have not driven one yet. I might just end up with captain chairs which I dont mind at all.

Question

Ok, to those who have the new "sport-style" 2001 split bench in their new trucks, how do you like them so far??????

Better or worse than the old style seat??/

Better or worse than the captain chairs???
