Question 2002 Explorer Question

I know, I know. This is an F-Series site but I value the opinions here. You guys (and gals ) were instrumental in my purchasing my truck last summer. Now the wife needs a new vehicle and has her heart set on an Explorer. The problem is she wants one now and the new ones aren't available yet. Does anyone know when the 2002's will be in the showrooms? I've read and seen some really good things about them and think it might be worth the wait. On the other hand, I could always lease a 2001 for a while then go with a new one once they've worked the bugs out. Any help with this would be appreciated!

Originally, it was Feb '01. NOw it won't be until April or May. AS Blue said, they are taking extra time to ensure that there are no recalls right out the door, as with the Escape. I would not bother with the 01 as the value has gone down the toilet. When the '02 comes out the 95-01 Explorers will retain resale value about as well as a Taurus. I have a 98 XLT with every option in mint condition that is only worth about $12K thanks to Firestone and the media. The sticker price was $31,7##. If you go with an '01 anyway, you should be able to buy for way below invoice.

It's an Explorer site similar to this one... they could tell you for sure.
