truck smashed.
truck smashed.
In a bad moment , the girlfriend of 13 years was driving my lightning in the rain. She went for the break and hit the throttle instead. THe truck did 3 donuts , jumped a curb and took out apx. 65 feet of chainlink fence while spinning donuts. Damage is as i am expecting to be over 10,000. and up. Today the truck was trailered by a towing company to the insurance inspection center. Will have the results of what they figure it will be to repair or writeoff. She is ok. as the cops and emergency response team said she is very lucky.
Poor girl in the panic to use the break she slams the throttle down and 497 rear hp spins her for a tense ride. So lucky in rush hour she did not hit anyone.
I'm a bit sad....about my truck....

Glad to hear that everyone is alright.
My condolences about the truck. It looks quite fixable to me.
I only had my Lightning for a year, for a few reasons that I won't get into at the moment. I miss that truck every day and it's been gone for a couple years. The one thing that I don't miss about having a truck that is so nice, is worring every second that it's going to be damaged in some way, shape or form. That's a lot of stress. Now, I drive a vehicle that isn't nice, and I have no attachment to what so ever. If it gets damaged it'll be fixed or replaced. It's light years from the Lightning though.
Good luck on the recovery!

It could be better and only around $10,000. or a complete write off, around 25,000. don't know which way it will go. A friend had his fx-4x4 stolen they twisted the frame when they went into a ditch.. it was a write off.

I sold my first lightning as as you state, I missed it so bad. Became the remorsefull seller. Took a year to find this 03, and ....well I don't know. They most likely will fix it unless the frame is bent. The cab and box alignment is out a bit. I will find out next week.
What you meant to say was EX-girlfriend after 13yrs.. LOL J/K.. Glad everyone is ok, that is a major kick in the *****.. That is a sweet truck you got there... What else did she hit beside the curb and a couple of the fence poles.. You said she was spinning when she hit all this.. Hopefully the intercooler and rad are ok... Is it drivable the way it is now..
I think with my insurance company, they state if you can drive it even if it's just around the block, or even down the street they will fix it.. If they do decide to fix it I hope they fix it to make it look like new... As long as the frame is square and doesn't need to go on the rack everything should just bolt right up without any problem.... If there is no frame damage I think they will fix it....

I expect a new bumper and valance, front fender, right rear quarter. The tail gate does not open the inner box and back bumper will be replaced, new windshield. The box twisted and dented the right read corner of the cab. Dent on roof from fence pole. Hood, fender and door roof will all need to have the scratches filled or sanded out and repainted. most likely two new rims, intercooler rad and suports the front wheels are skewed. The frames flex on these trucks so the box to cab damage may or may not indicate a twisted frame. The front end cross member took a hit.

If it is written off I would lose the value of the motor, built block with head work and MP blower. So I want to keep the truck. That aside if the frame is twisted, I do not want the truck and hope it is a a write off.
I have to declair the accident when I go to sell and that devalues the truck. It was very clean, with a few tiny dents in the back of the tail gate, and several small scratchjs and one rock chip. Not bad for an 03. If I get the truck back it will have complete paint, several new rims, windshield and a wheel alignment, etc.. so it would be in nice condition.
