Drag strip tips?

I'm going to drag my truck tomorrow just for fun. People keep telling me to put the air down a little lower in my tires (terra grapplers) and to buy octane booster.

Personally I would like to run it right now with what its got with normal stuff including 87 octane. I think burning out would be stupid too.

Any tips like how much to rev it before I launch? (I have no tach so I have to go by feel)

Try one run from the idle as the torque converter will flash and your 60 foot will not be rto bad for a nearly stock truck.
2nd run load up to about 2000/2500 rpm and see what the 60 foot time is. The lower the 60 foot time the better the trap speed and time will be.

I dought that you well spin, if you do lower the air pressure a bit untill the spin in mimimal

on those tires whats the max PSI of air you can put in? in the rears run about 25-30psi in the front tire put as much as as the tires are rated for. also pull as much weght out as you can or feel like IE. spare tire rear seat subs are very heavy....doors...cab...bed...s.etc if you go any higher than 2,500 RPM the back end will break loose lol. and as someone said to get the best reaction time go on the last yellow light by the time u hit WOT the light will be green thats how the top fuel guys do it!! good luck and take some vids

yeah click the OD button off. it shouldnt go into OD at WOT but who knows these trans do some werid stuff...dumb computers hahaha.

also do you have 4x4? if you do make all the air pressure the same for a few runs and lunch in 4x4 this will allow you to hold the RPMs almost to 3,000. do a few with just 2wd 30PSI in the rear and the max PSI in the front then make them all even after a few runs and lunch in 4x4.

make sure your a/c is off. windows are up. take anything out of the bed. dont break anything, and if you do, push the truck out of the race park and call a tow truck. insurance wont cover anything that happens at the track.

humm just take the belt off for a pass but you would have to put it on ASAP as one of those pulleys is ur water pump. the batt. should last fine without an alt i drove 10 miles on just batt. before it died. give it a run these trucks fly with no belt on them i drove mine for 10 mins with no belt hard to turn and got hot pretty quick but man did it move!!

i think thats about all the tips i got. mostly just the most PSI u can get in the front 25-30 in the rear and loose as much weght as you feel like taking out.... you can also take off your tailgate too!!! good luck buddy

don't burn out, just power brake it enough to turn the tires over a couple times to clean 'em off

no A/C at all, for a whle before you get to the track (not even in the staging lanes) condensation dripping on the track is bad for people running slicks / drag radials

launch off idle a couple times, and try a couple times with the torque converter loaded

if you're not tuned for it then don't bother with higher octane

keep your tires aired up unless you are spinning real bad

I suggest you do not launch in 4X4, but it's your truck...

I'm pretty sure some of the guys at the track will give you pointers if you're not being a jerk out there, it's a big family and it's all about having fun

the key is to enjoy yourself and try to get your reaction time and 60ft as low as possible

ENJOY YOURSELF

Tera, why no 4x4 launches? The diesel dudes do it all the time. Built54s even done a few, if I remember right.

They don't have sequential yellow lights, that is all of the yellows flash at once.

If your horse bogs down on the line, You could shave a little off your reaction time, by backing into the stage lights
